Pink Tutu Design and Make at www pink tutu com

Darling,
September, oh September. It's that time again when we put away those gorgeous summer silks and think about the autumnal colours and textures. But, dear, just because the days are getting shorter doesn't mean our dancing needs to be dull! So, this September, I'm all about bringing the romance and fire of a beautiful sunset onto the stage. And what better way to do that than with a truly show-stopping tutu and leotard?

Think deep reds, burning oranges, and the deep purple of dusk. The key to this look is the interplay of textures and subtle colour changes. So, let's create our own masterpiece.

What you need, darling:

  • Fabric: This September, we are all about sheer, dramatic fabrics. You can't go wrong with a gorgeous chiffon or tulle in rich tones. Think burgundy, sunset orange, and deep amethyst. Look for the beautiful shimmering "silk organza" - it's absolutely stunning on stage! Now, darling, we need some dimension, so find a luxurious, deep velvet for the bodice.
  • Sewing: I don't know how you prefer to sew, my darling, but you're going to need your sewing machine, some good needles (never underestimate the power of a sharp needle!), some fine, matching thread, and maybe even a little elastic.
  • Lace & Jewels: It wouldn't be the *perfect* look without a little something extra, right, my dear? For this look, I would suggest a sumptuous, deep red velvet ribbon or some black Chantilly lace for the bodice. Don't forget those sparkling beads and sequins, darling! Now is the time to get creative, a few strategically placed crystals will make a statement on that sheer fabric!

Where to get it, sweetheart:

  • Fabrics: Honestly, darling, there is something special about that old-fashioned shop on the corner - you know, the one with the scent of lavender and wool. Those are the shops where you will find those gorgeous silks and chiffons in colors that will just knock your socks off! However, if you need something fast and accessible, try a good online shop. They often have stunning colours and textures that you won't find in the shops!
  • Sewing: Now, let's not be ridiculous, darling. Your favourite haberdashery will be able to meet all your needs! And for those little touches like the beading? They might even be able to point you in the right direction.
  • Lace & Jewels: Now, this is your time to indulge, darling! Remember those incredible little antique shops? The ones filled with velvet boxes and trinkets? Well, I swear they must hold the secrets of stage costume embellishment! And of course, darling, our wonderful theatrical costumiers can make life easy, they will have just what we need.

And darling, do you know what truly sets a costume apart? Effortlessness. The magic of movement. When the skirt billows around your legs and you catch the light - well, you are on stage, in your element, the *star*.
