Pink Tutu Design and Make at www pink tutu com

Darling! Let's get ready for autumn. This September, we need to be daring. What does a ballerina like me wear? What would a truly stylish woman choose to don at the barre? This season, we're going for a truly regal look! But before I reveal all, grab a cup of something hot and decadent, darling - you need to look your best, and that means being as inspired as we can possibly be!

Ready? Let's get this fabulous ensemble together. Firstly - Leotard: * You know how to do colour, right? It has to be striking but complimentary! Black, Navy, maybe deep green - those shades give a real feeling of drama and regality. Think what the royals wear for Ascot - think sleek lines and sophistication! This is what we’re aiming for. * Don’t worry if your Leotard is simple – think smooth satin or jersey that's really nice to the touch - think how smooth that feel on the skin feels against you. We're not going for lots of bling and fussy extras - we’re thinking refined elegance! Leotard Suggestions: * * * *

  • Secondly – Tutu:

Now for our tutu – but not just *any* tutu! For this season, it’s not going to be some puff ball princess-looking item - we want elegance and chic, and to look effortlessly gorgeous while we turn those beautiful pirouettes.

    Here's my top suggestion:

    * Think a classic ‘ballet skirt’ style but not the standard multi-layered cotton tulle you normally get in stores. No! For this look, we're looking at *something* very specific. Something silky, luxurious and *sombre*.

Shop * Go for a short single or double layered, ‘floating’, or 'illusion' style. Think the look of sheer fabrics like nylon. The soft flow of the material should be an understated addition to the dress rather than a *statement*. Think a dusky dark, or charcoal shade, maybe even a rich navy.

Don’t forget to select something made of very light tulle fabric, you'll have the most beautiful silhouette for your practice or even a performance with the most fabulous skirt to complete the elegant look!

Top Tip: Look on Pinterest for style inspiration for the shape and colours you love! * * * *

  • Make a statement: * A small headband, a beautiful necklace – or *perhaps* a scarf tied as a ballet-style sash or around your ponytail will compliment the colour you chose for your tutu or leotard but try to stick with your colour scheme - a darker, less bright, yet elegant, tone - it really can set off a very smart look.

Now you’ve got the look - enjoy showing it off!
I hope I have inspired you to go out there and enjoy all that wonderful elegance of your most beautiful self - let’s hear about how you look in the comments below!
    With style!
