Pink Tutu Design and Make at www pink tutu com

Darlings, March is upon us, and it's time for a new look! The weather is starting to turn warmer, the birds are singing, and spring is in the air. So let’s put away the velvet and wool and start dreaming of tutus and leotards. The perfect garment to set hearts aflutter!

So let’s have some fun and get creative! Here's how you can design the hottest new tutu or leotard look this March:

First, the inspiration:

This season is all about colour! And I’m thinking a strong pop of pink - a vibrant, bright, almost neon pink. But it also has to be soft and floaty, like a fluffy pink cloud on a crisp, spring morning. And a little touch of the season in the colour - green – perhaps a delicate shade of mint.

For your Tutu: * You'll need a classic-shaped tutu, the more layers the better! Think clouds of tulle. I’d look for one that sits just below the hips. You want that wonderful, wispy shape. I love the one by Bloch, you’ll find it on Amazon. * You’ll want a fabric like a net – super fine, but sturdy enough to give you that glorious ‘cloud’ effect. Try the "Sparkle Pink Ballet Tutu Netting Fabric” - the shade will give that incredible, bright pop. You’ll find it at my favourite retailer, “Fabrics Galore.” * A little embellishment – I think a thin ribbon in a beautiful shade of mint. This would give the look an amazing dash of colour that would really pop on the pink, don't you think? Try a beautiful, wide silk ribbon. For your Leotard: * For your leotard, darling, I am going for a super sleek look. Go for a basic, form-fitting leotard in a lovely black. Try the 'Freya’ by Danskin, you’ll find it at Debenhams. It’s just that sleek black canvas. * To add that dash of pink we are longing for, a simple strip of this beautiful net (remember, the ‘Sparkle Pink Ballet Tutu Netting Fabric’ from "Fabrics Galore”) - run it diagonally across the body - one arm to hip. * And add the same thin mint-green silk ribbon to bring everything together! Just a thin dash that goes from one shoulder to the other across the leotard, so simple, chic and elegant! You can use your existing ribbon from the tutu to finish off your look.
Accessorizing for an unforgettable look * To tie your outfit together and add the final touches you could have your hair up in a ballerina bun. And if your outfit is bright and fun, don't be afraid to go all out! I would say some brightly coloured clips are going to look amazing, in the same colour family as the outfit - the vibrant pink or that beautiful mint green.

Remember darling, there are no rules - make it your own! The key to looking effortlessly beautiful and captivating is to have confidence in yourself, your style and let the fabric flow like a gentle breeze - in every pose.
