Darling, it's March already, can you believe it? Another month of whirlwind tours, balletic beauties, and divine creations to consume. So let's get on with the gossip, shall we?

March's Most Exquisite Ensembles

Right, I'm afraid it has to be said, the most exquisitely divine experience last month was definitely *Ballet Preljocaj* at the ThĂ©Ăątre de la Ville, Paris, which absolutely sent me into raptures. Angels descending from the heavens, the most sublime interpretations of Ravel’s *BolĂ©ro,* my dears, I almost burst into tears. Simply magnificent. You simply HAVE to get yourself to Paris. Even if just for a peek into this incredible troupe.

The dancers at *Ballet Preljocaj* are just captivating. They move with such a divine fluidity, a total lack of self-consciousness and sheer power – so effortlessly brilliant. And speaking of *Ballet Preljocaj,* you should see this glorious ***Le Conte* *d'hiver** *at the Barbican*. It was truly a journey through the very essence of storytelling, beautifully choreographed, and deeply moving.

And darling, I couldn’t resist getting my dancing shoes on at *Royal Opera House*, just the other day. That **Swan Lake*, by the glorious *Royal Ballet*... you know, you simply can’t resist a bit of swan elegance! And yes, of course, they delivered as always, a true classic, breathtakingly elegant, with the absolute **masterclass in fluidity** of dancing. You must book a quick trip to Covent Garden. Just saying...

Of course, one mustn’t forget the absolutely charming production of **“Sleeping Beauty”* by the *National Ballet of Canada*. Darling, how divine is this production. Simply dreamy, charming, and so exquisitely crafted it really does make the magic come alive.

An American Whirlwind

Now, darling, the world doesn't end in Europe, does it? There’s much going on across the pond and oh my goodness, do we have a lot to look forward to. Of course, there's the legendary New York City Ballet with *The Nutcracker* at the New York State Theatre, that, frankly, should not be missed by any balletomane. But have a look at what’s happening at the Jacob’s Pillow, darling, there is *simply too much* to fit into one month. If you can possibly swing a little time across the Atlantic in July then grab your dancing shoes darling, you won't be sorry.

For lovers of more “modern" contemporary, take a look at *Dance Theatre of Harlem*, the incredible fusion of balletic elegance and modern expressiveness is a truly captivating experience.

You should know, however, darling, that *Miami City Ballet* have had a rather public falling out, but the dancers are nothing but gracious, as always. The rumours, of course, run rampant, but their season is definitely worth a peek. However, it's not to be missed that *Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater*, are at the Joyce Theater.

This American tour is simply divine. Darling, I love this troupe, their power, their intensity, the raw emotional impact of every performance is just captivating! So, get out your little black book darling and mark it on your calendar!

Rising Stars And Upcoming Ensembles

Now, let's talk about those darling young things
the upcoming generation who are quite simply making their mark all around the world. Don’t just accept this “classical" stuff dear
you must get out there and experience something a little bit different and really quite delightful!

  • If you are lucky enough to be in Brussels next month darling, be sure to go and see *Ballet Vlaanderen,* these are simply amazing. They are certainly shaking up the classic format. This company pushes boundaries. These dancers are a breath of fresh air. *Do get yourself a ticket.* Don't just go for one night, darling. This is the real future of dance.
  • Speaking of those new generation ballerinas, be sure to watch for ***Sasha de Sola,* ** one of my favorite dancers today, with such a sublime expressiveness. You really do see the emotional depth, and incredible strength within her art.
  • Keep your eye on *Akram Khan*. This wonderful choreographer really does captivate, with that distinct blend of classical ballet and a distinctly Indian influence, making something wonderfully exciting. You have to see what this delightful dancer is doing for yourself! You'll find his style deeply mesmerizing, and perhaps quite unlike anything you’ve experienced before, if you’re a lover of pure classical ballet.

Fashion and Flair: The *Ultimate* in Balletic Elegance

And speaking of ballet and dance, oh, my darlings, have we seen some divine *fashion* lately! Now, while many may think the “leotard” is pretty boring, let me tell you, darling, the design world has caught on! And it’s been such fun, and oh-so exciting! Let's be honest, a dance costume is a fantastic piece of art, no?

We can see the designers going from simple, graceful styles to very complex creations and even incorporating things like sequins and lace. That beautiful fluidity in ballet really brings these amazing costumes to life, so you are really treated to such an exquisitely-crafted and artistic spectacle.

Of course, what we’re seeing now on stage reflects the *changing tastes* of dance-loving, style-savvy patrons like you and I, dear. We are no longer satisfied with the "usual" – it needs to be modern, avant-garde, and make a real statement. Ballet, in this regard, is really a **fashion leader.** The dance world, darling, really is on the cusp of something truly extraordinary! This season it's *all about the detail* – the beautifully-made shoes, that amazing fluidity of silk and satin as it swishes past in all its elegance.

And of course, if you’re out looking for a **look to really take a chance on, be bold!** The fashion industry is definitely getting on board and creating wonderful variations for daily wear. Those beautiful designs have taken over everyday life. Think of those delicate textures in your new silk top
a beautiful echo of what you’ve just seen at *Paris Opera* - a nod to the *choreographer's* most delightful piece. Oh darling, the world of balletic elegance, and its wonderful translations into our wardrobes, simply cannot be resisted! And do look out for **those exquisite ballerina shoes**, a darling *ballet-flat* in beautiful colors really lifts the mood, as always.

March Madness and All Things Ballerina

Oh my, this year *The Royal Ballet’s Gala* was absolutely magical. One truly magical moment in that lovely venue, it really did have the feeling of absolute grandeur! As the curtains finally came down on this special evening of breathtaking art, and we looked around at the adoring faces, we felt, well
a sort of **peace**. After all, haven't we seen some spectacular productions this month? From those magnificent performances across Europe to those American tours which leave you spellbound. The world of ballet, dear, really is just brimming with **magical energy**.

What a gift we’ve been given this month! What wonderful things to cherish as we enter another magical month.

Be sure to take time this month to enjoy all that's happening, both big and small. Take note of a young dancer or two. Enjoy a new performance by your favourite artist, get dressed in something elegant, put a little sparkle on. Get those little black shoes out and treat yourself to the truly magical experiences that this wonderfully diverse world offers. After all, it is, after all, **all for you
 **
