Darling, this month the dance world has been ablaze! I’ve simply had to hop on the Concorde, dash through Paris in my divine Louboutin pumps (yes, darling, the cherry-red ones!), and nip over to London to catch all the most magnificent productions, then a whirlwind tour through Vienna, Berlin, New York, and Tokyo before I could finally land back in my little pied-à-terre in Paris. Honestly, jet lag never felt so divine!

It’s simply divine to see the blossoming of talent, especially among the younger generation. Oh, my dear, the fire in their eyes and the passion in their every movement! Such an exciting time to be part of this world. My darling highlights, this month:

  • Royal Ballet's Swan Lake at the Royal Opera House, London

First, let's talk about the jewel in the crown, darling: The Royal Ballet’s 'Swan Lake' at the Royal Opera House. What a triumphant revival! You wouldn’t believe the queue, darling, snaking right down the Covent Garden Market, just to get a glimpse of the performance. I tell you, London was abuzz with excitement, and the performance certainly didn't disappoint. Of course, Darcey Bussell was absolutely divine as the White Swan. So graceful, so effortless, you’d think she was born on pointe! And her partner, the sublime Carlos Acosta as Prince Siegfried, they were like fire and ice – a beautiful ballet of contrast and passionate abandon. Oh, I'm just getting goosebumps remembering it! It's so exciting to see this younger generation take the stage. They bring a freshness, a fire, that just burns brighter. The choreography, oh darling, simply divine! The story danced, each scene painting a beautiful tapestry of love, betrayal, and ultimately, tragic romance. You felt the emotion in the air, and it just swept you away.

  • Vienna State Opera’s "Giselle" in Vienna

Of course, I couldn't resist a trip to Vienna for their production of “Giselle,” a masterpiece by the incomparable Marius Petipa. A masterpiece! A real dance of heartbreak, you could almost smell the sadness wafting from the stage! But oh, my dears, the costumes! It’s like you've walked into an art gallery, but the paintings are moving and so expressive! Each movement was a painting of longing, love, and the bitter truth of heartbreak. Their rendition was simply magical, with Anna-Maria Holz as the heartbreaking Giselle. Oh darling, you’ve never seen such pathos on stage, truly! Every step was infused with anguish and love, it just took my breath away. I think the whole theatre held their breath when she took that last step towards her demise! There's a beauty in seeing the most fragile love torn apart on stage, but then finding some peace in their final moment.

  • The Berlin Staatsballet’s production of "La Sylphide" in Berlin

The Berlin Staatsballet presented a simply exquisite production of “La Sylphide” at the iconic State Opera. Honestly, darling, you felt transported to the most magical woodland, with each movement feeling as airy and weightless as the breeze through the trees. This company always shines in romantic ballets, they simply breathe magic onto the stage! My dear, the sets and the costumes were a sight to behold! Like stepping into a dream with fairies flitting about and the gentle murmur of the forest at night. The costumes were stunning, each layer a whispered story of beauty, nature, and ethereal grace.

  • The New York City Ballet’s Spring Gala at Lincoln Center, New York

New York, darling, always full of vibrance! The New York City Ballet's spring gala at Lincoln Center was simply electrifying. I was simply buzzing with energy! My dear, I absolutely adore the youthful energy and artistic innovation this ballet has. There is a real excitement that courses through each performance. And oh, the choreography! You just felt that passion bursting through the stage. Each performance, a breathtaking spectacle. They're not afraid to push the boundaries of dance. Their gala, my dear, a feast for the eyes and the soul. They presented some new works that truly stole the show. Such original ideas! Such innovative choreography! And darling, the talent is undeniable. So many fresh young faces, dancing with such vitality and precision. They are shaping the future of the dance world and you could see the hunger in their eyes!

  • The Tokyo Ballet’s “Don Quixote" in Tokyo

Let’s end this ballet escapade in the beautiful Tokyo! Now darling, the Tokyo Ballet’s performance of “Don Quixote” simply set my soul ablaze. Imagine, bright and joyful colours swirling in every performance, oh, darling! That’s Tokyo’s "Don Quixote". I just adored their youthful exuberance and the energy they poured into every move! Such fun and vivacious steps! This was a real celebration of dance, just pure joy expressed through movement! They certainly showcased a talent for Spanish flair, with powerful movements, intricate steps, and an absolute torrent of energy that made me practically dance in my seat! Oh, I almost forgot! The costumes. Such vibrant, colorful fabrics, just adding another layer of pure delight to the performance.

My dears, ballet is an ever-evolving world and we are certainly living through a golden era for dance! So, what are you waiting for? Slip on your most chic attire and book those tickets, a night at the ballet is an experience you'll cherish forever! I’ll be right here darling, watching from the sidelines! Perhaps I’ll be catching you in the VIP area of some Parisian ballet, just another reason to slip into that divinely couture evening gown !
