Darling, it’s that time of the year again, the air is thick with the promise of a season full of balletic delights. We all know the whispers are starting to swirl, like the pirouettes of a prima ballerina – who's gracing which stage, what exquisite costumes will we be treated to and who will steal our breath away with their divine choreography?

First, a quick flight to the City of Lights. Paris, the undisputed Queen of romance, always brings a frisson of excitement and a touch of that undeniable Gallic chic to any performance. Let's face it, when you're seated in the gilded embrace of the Palais Garnier, your senses are already primed for something extraordinary.

And darling, at the Opéra National de Paris, there was no shortage of that "extraordinary". This month we’re utterly mesmerized by a revival of the "La Bayadère" by Marius Petipa, choreographed to a mesmerizing score by Ludwig Minkus. This grand spectacle takes us to the opulent heart of India, weaving a tragic tale of love, betrayal, and redemption through intricate and lavish sets and costumes. The corps de ballet was flawless, each movement so precise and controlled that the choreography became a whirlwind of silk and sheer artistry. It was simply sublime.

The icing on the cake, my dears? The glorious Marie-Agnès Gillot in the role of Nikiya. Her expressive face conveyed the heartbreak and passion of Nikiya’s journey so vividly, she brought the whole story to life with the grace of a butterfly and the power of a storm. Oh darling, her artistry made this Bayadère absolutely divine. The crowd was enraptured, thunderous applause, we’ve all witnessed something extraordinary. Truly unforgettable.

Now let's flit off to the grand dame of ballet, our beloved Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. What could be more fitting than the classic, "Giselle"? It's always a joy to be swept away by the enchanting world of Giselle, a tale of love and madness set against a stunning backdrop of ethereal forests and ghostly realms.

And the stars, darling, they are simply celestial! The exquisite Natalia Osipova brought such an ethereal beauty and technical virtuosity to the role of Giselle. Her leaps were simply divine, a whisper of grace and power that drew the audience into a silent thrall. Her partner, the captivating Ivan Vasiliev, conveyed Albrecht's heartbreak and longing with a passion that was palpable.

This performance was all about the nuances of dance. We saw Osipova's emotional depth reflected in every flick of her wrists, every tilt of her head. It was the perfect interpretation of this classic. If I was a mere maiden again, my heart would be stolen! Such magic. Let us applaud them all with gusto!

And then we flew off to New York City. What else would we do but find ourselves mesmerized by the audacity of the New York City Ballet? What’s in store this season? Darling, we just had to catch their breathtaking production of "The Sleeping Beauty". The sets were sumptuous, the costumes more dramatic than ever, and the whole experience left me floating on a cloud.

But this isn’t just some sleepy fairytale, darling. There’s something captivatingly modern in Christopher Wheeldon's interpretation of this beloved classic. We found ourselves captivated by Ashley Bouder in the title role. Her performance was imbued with such ethereal grace and strength – a true modern interpretation of Princess Aurora. Every arabesque, every grand jeté felt imbued with a fresh intensity. The entire company brought the performance to life with such dynamic energy, I was on the edge of my seat.

As always, the costumes! Oh, the magnificent frocks! The New York City Ballet has always been ahead of the curve when it comes to costume design. Every shimmering gown, every elaborate detail just brought that fairytale world into sharp focus. Just like an elegant dream, darling, this "Sleeping Beauty" wasn’t sleeping on style at all!

Now, darling, I have to tell you about something extraordinary that happened right in our own city, London, in a stunning little bijou theatre: The Sadler’s Wells.

Imagine our surprise! We stumbled upon a performance by the incredible BalletBoyz. You might know them for their captivating modern takes on the dance world. And darling, their latest show, "The Talent", did not disappoint!

It was a whirlwind of movement, emotion, and artistic genius. Each of the performers was a whirlwind of skill and energy, blending intricate choreography with raw and vibrant emotion. What sets this performance apart? It's raw, it's honest, and it's bursting with energy! We all left feeling empowered and energized, a real breath of fresh air amongst the traditional, darling!

We’ve covered all corners of the globe and oh darling, what a month it’s been for ballet. From the classic grace of Giselle in Covent Garden to the modern brilliance of BalletBoyz in London, we’ve been captivated by the sheer power of dance. Every step, every pose, and every expression has told a story that has transported us to another world. And who knows, what other marvels are in store for us this season?

As always, I’m looking forward to being swept off my feet! What a glorious month, darling!

Until next month, remember to always dance to your own rhythm!
