Darling, can you believe it's August already? Time just seems to fly when you're busy dancing your way through life. Of course, for me, that means hopping from one beautiful, breathtaking ballet to the next. Let's dive into this month's delectable dance feast, shall we?

My first stop this month was a delightful surprise - The Royal Ballet's staging of 'La Bayadère' at the Royal Opera House. Now, we've all seen this classic many times, haven't we? But darling, the beauty of ballet is its enduring freshness, the endless ways a production can surprise. This one, my dears, was nothing short of a masterpiece. The set was breathtakingly detailed, reminiscent of some opulent, shimmering Mughal palace, all shimmering silks and gilded pillars. And the choreography! I just couldn't take my eyes off Natalia Osipova - that girl has a talent that literally takes my breath away. Her performance as Nikiya was captivating, every movement infused with such grace and power, it truly took my breath away.

Speaking of Osipova, she's truly unstoppable. Catch her in another gem this month - 'Manon' by Kenneth MacMillan. The sheer depth of emotion in this work is stunning, and Osipova, in her portrayal of Manon, masterfully takes us on an emotional rollercoaster from innocence to heartbreak. I find the ending rather gut-wrenching, but that's what makes MacMillan's work so powerful, isn't it? And those costumes, darlings! Talk about elegance - every single detail is meticulously crafted to add a layer of complexity to this tragic love story.

For a change of pace, I popped over to the Paris Opera Ballet to see 'The Sleeping Beauty'. Oh my dear, the French always know how to put on a good show! The dancers are sublimely graceful and technically impeccable. The most delightful surprise, though, was the fairy-tale costumes, all sparkling and shimmering. The production feels a little lighter and more playful than its British counterpart - but darling, that's not a criticism, simply a charmingly different perspective on a classic fairytale.

Speaking of enchanting productions, I highly recommend a visit to American Ballet Theatre for their spectacular performance of 'Giselle'. The costumes are so captivating, a visual treat of floral motifs and diaphanous fabrics. The story, so tragic and heartbreaking, truly moved me. You'll see the most gorgeous waltz and incredibly technical solos - particularly in the second act. This truly is a performance that will leave you breathless. But darling, make sure you grab a tissue before you go - you'll be needing it, trust me.

Moving onto something more contemporary, I was fortunate enough to witness Nederlands Dans Theater perform 'Rain', a captivating masterpiece. The performance is simply breathtaking! Imagine rain - the pitter-patter, the force, the fleeting nature - all translated into elegant, intricate dance movements. Absolutely mesmerising. I must tell you, I wasn't quite prepared for the level of innovation - the choreography, set, and lighting are flawlessly blended together. A truly innovative dance experience, dear readers.

Let's not forget our lovely London Royal Ballet! They're showing 'The Nutcracker' all over again, but trust me, this classic never gets old. And what's more delightful than being transported back to childhood with a performance filled with twinkling magic? There's no better way to experience this whimsical tale of magic, courage and family, and the dancers, well, they're utterly superb. Do not miss this charming production!

If you are in New York City this month, I recommend checking out Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. They have been touring across the globe with "Revelations", a stunning portrayal of the African-American experience through music and dance. You will feel your heart lift with the sheer power and grace of the choreography - it will stay with you long after the final curtain falls. Trust me darling, a night with Alvin Ailey is always a moving, captivating experience.

For a truly unique and daring experience, you have to see "The Rite of Spring" by The Bolshoi Ballet. Darling, it is so visceral and primitive, almost shocking in its intensity! But, there is also a real beauty in the power and rawness of this masterpiece, something I always appreciate in contemporary ballet. The dancers push the limits of their bodies to perform the movements in such a way that truly captures the emotion and ferocity of the story.

And, just to spice things up a little bit, why not pop in on some Cirque du Soleil? Their spectacles are simply mind-blowing. Imagine dazzling acrobatics blended with an elegant and ethereal soundtrack - an irresistible combination, wouldn't you say? And you just know those costumes, they are to die for. Don't think about it darling, just book a ticket!

So, there you have it, darling, my round-up of ballet around the globe this month. Make sure you plan ahead, the shows are selling out fast! Do keep in mind, darling, it's not about quantity - but quality! Pick a few, and immerse yourself in the world of beautiful bodies, powerful movements, and stories told through the art of ballet. Happy dancing, my lovelies.
