Tutu Tuesday: A Peek into Ballet's Pink Past (Post #30)

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, your favourite pink-tutu-clad time-travelling ballerina blogger. Welcome back to another Tuesday, and another dip into the fascinating world of ballet history.

This week we're going all the way back to the 24th July, 1832. Now, that might sound awfully far back to some, but just you wait, because 1832 was an exciting time for dance. The Victorian Era was dawning, and while the Queen may have favoured sensible trousers, the ballet world was getting ready for some fabulous tulle!

Think about it - a swishy, floating skirt, made of the finest, softest material - you simply cannot beat a tutu! Even way back then, when a single layer of silk tulle was all they had, the sheer grace and femininity it brought to a ballerina’s performance was utterly captivating.

Right now I'm sitting in Paris, the heart of ballet! The Paris Opera Ballet is where all the top choreographers and dancers are headed, and you can bet I'm right there in the front row at every performance.

I've just seen an absolutely stunning new ballet! I can’t tell you the name, because I'm so careful not to give away spoilers to my history posts! I can tell you that it involved leaps, spins, graceful poses…and plenty of tulle!

There’s an excitement here about dance, a creative energy buzzing around Paris! This, dear reader, is a time for groundbreaking choreography and beautiful dancers, and a time where a single layer of tulle in a stunning design could send an audience wild.

It's amazing to think that the tutus we wear today, those fluffy masterpieces, are only getting started! Can you believe how far we've come? The Victorian Era brought a taste of romanticism to the world, and you can see that in the way dancers moved on stage - all that dreamy fluidity and elegance, flowing just like the graceful swish of the early tutus!

Of course, while we may not all wear our tutus for daily wear - though, let's face it, the world could really use more pink tulle, darling - we can all learn to dance like ballerinas! A little bit of movement in our lives keeps us feeling bubbly and bright, and that's just what the world needs, especially on a Tuesday!

So go ahead and get your dance on, my dears. Remember, pink is always the perfect colour for a tutu - just like today!

Don’t forget, this is just a little taste of what you can find on my blog, Pink-Tutu.com! Come on over, explore some of my other posts, and perhaps leave a comment to tell me what your favourite colour of tutu is!

Keep on dancing!

Emma xx
