#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History: 1834-03-25 - A Trip to Paris for Fashion and Fancies! 🩰🌸

Welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com! It's #TutuTuesday, darlings, and we're off on a little trip through time. This week, we're landing in a rather chic spot: Paris! The date? March 25th, 1834.

Now, let's be honest: while ballet may not have been quite the sensation it is today in 1834, Paris was already known for its artistry and its love of a spectacle. Imagine stepping onto the cobblestones, the air alive with the whisper of skirts, the clack of heels, and the chatter of French and English in equal measure. Fashion was everything, and a Parisian stroll was always an adventure for the eyes!

Fashion Forward:

Ladies, we can learn so much from this era. The gowns! The colours! The lace! There were the wide skirts, the delicate embellishments, and the exquisite headpieces. Imagine waltzing into a grand ball with a delicate tulle veil, your own haute couture design by the fashion-forward Mary Ann *! This era truly championed *romantic and whimsical style, which brings me to something else I adore – **the crinoline! Yes, ladies, a bit cumbersome for ballet perhaps, but imagine a ballet-inspired, flowing gown draped over a graceful crinoline… sheer perfection!

Dancing in the Past:

Let’s be honest: Ballet was much more about technique and storytelling back in 1834. There were no grand en pointe performances. And don't get me wrong, there were talented dancers; but the emphasis wasn't entirely on technical mastery – more on elegance and emotion. It was a delightful, graceful way to showcase human movement, even if they weren’t on the tips of their toes.

(By the way, my time-travelling tip is this: *be prepared for long trains! In those days, even daytime dresses trailed quite a distance. Think a bit more waltz than barre…!)*

Now, What About the Tutù?

While we don't yet have the iconic ballet tutu we know today – a little white puff of heaven – let's not forget those elegant skirts! I am certain we'll see layers of tulle, silken gossamer, or maybe even silk panels adorned with intricate designs… The artistry in dance, no matter the period, deserves to be celebrated with a lovely, delicate, elegant skirt!

Fashion, Romance, and A Journey for the Senses:

Oh, 1834! Paris is definitely a time for enjoying a delectable dessert with your favourite companion at Cafe Procope or indulging in an opera, perhaps an enchanting Grand Opera. Can you imagine a ballerina on stage, the delicate layers of tulle swirling as she executes graceful movements?

(Speaking of my lovely readers, it's time to visit *pink-tutu.com for more fashion inspiration from the past and the present! I'll see you back here next Tuesday. )*

Just a quick word about my favourite things: This time traveller enjoys the railway - it’s all steam and grandeur, even the trains in Derbyshire - a great journey in itself! My lovely readers, keep those beautiful smiles going and make sure to step onto the stage of life and express your passion.

(I always keep my travel bag packed with a fabulous pink tutu just in case!)

This is Post number 117 from Emma at pink-tutu.com. And yes, I have found a few places around the world that are quite smitten with this darling pink ballet staple. Who will be the next in line? Just you wait...
