#TutuTuesday: A Whirlwind Through Time! 🩰

Hello, darlings! It's Emma, your resident pink tutu enthusiast, and it's time for another #TutuTuesday! Today, we're taking a trip back to 14th April 1835! Now, this is a time before tutus really stole the stage, but I couldn't let this Tuesday slip by without a little peek into history, don't you agree? 💖

I’m whisked back to this very date by a flurry of petticoats and a most intriguing train journey. The excitement of this vintage ballet experience just sends my little pink heart aflutter! Honestly, the best thing about time travelling is the chance to soak up a bit of fashion history. Even though tutus as we know them wouldn’t come to full bloom for another few decades, the style and elegance of the times is simply breathtaking!

This week, we're on a charming railway journey, just outside of Paris! The railway lines, you know, they were still a fairly new thing at this time, and quite the marvel. Imagine chugging through the countryside, and seeing the landscape change outside your window – all while looking ever so elegant in your travelling dress! I can't resist taking inspiration from this glamorous age, adding a bit of extra frill to my petticoats and a splash of my favourite pink for a touch of modern elegance. 😊

The Parisian stage of this period was already buzzing with dance, darling! You’ll see some brilliant ballerinas of the time in performances like "Giselle," a breathtaking spectacle that stole the hearts of audiences all over Europe. However, they weren't yet wearing those fluffy tutus you picture when you think of a ballerina. Back then, it was all about soft flowing fabrics and graceful movements that demanded the most exquisite technical skill. Imagine it! The Romanticism era, with its dreamy storylines and elegant attire!

Of course, even back then, it wasn't just about the ballet, it was about the whole experience. It was about dressing up, about feeling your most beautiful and sophisticated, about being swept away by a magical story, and for some, the performance was simply the finale to an exciting night out!
"Fashion", darling! That was the name of the game! I have to say, the Parisian ladies know how to dress in style! The fashion scene back then is like nothing else, all beautiful gowns and ornate jewellery - and, of course, the ladies still managed to look demure and refined while pushing boundaries with each outfit. It's a period filled with delicate charm and the most exquisite femininity. It just screams "PINK TUTU" in its own special way, don't you think? 💖

In fact, the ladies of the time were absolutely obsessed with elegance and refinement! I am convinced the fashion of this time is simply dripping with ballerina vibes! Even if you haven't ever thought about trying ballet, the silhouette, the fabrics and the charm are all part of the same graceful spirit! I know I may not always travel to these glamorous spots (the expense!), but my imagination does! My head is full of these elegant styles, flowing skirts and that delightful frill just above the ankles! 😍

You know what else makes me giggle when I travel back in time? The differences between our own time and their perception of fashion. Back in 1835, it wasn't quite the world of fast fashion we have today, but it wasn’t lacking in creativity, not for a minute. That era, I've always loved. There's such a touch of timelessness to their style that’s so easy to adapt even in our world! They weren’t all about that bling, darlings, their style is pure understated sophistication. 😉 It's also about the quality. They really were about timeless quality fashion - with fabrics that have stood the test of time. They would truly appreciate my pink tutu's (but don't tell my friends about my penchant for this! Shhh... let’s keep it a little secret just for now! 😉).

So, what's on the agenda today, back in 1835?

Well, if we were to check a contemporary calendar (you can thank me for these amazing techy bits, darling, no pocket watch required today! 🥰 ), it appears this 14th April 1835 is looking pretty quiet. I would probably take a break, go for a stroll in one of Paris's stunning green spaces, a Jardins as they say. Perhaps a glass of limonade at an elegant cafe! It’s so dreamy! You know, even the most simple act back then, it feels like such a refined delight. It’s about savoring that bit of life. ✨

And don’t worry darling, I haven’t forgotten my Ballet! A good performance on a Saturday or Sunday is certainly on the schedule. I may be travelling through time, but you'll always catch me at the theatre, enjoying that pure magical enchantment that only ballet offers! 🩰

Well, that’s it for this week’s #TutuTuesday, darling! Be sure to join me next Tuesday, as I'll be taking another little spin on the time-travelling machine and I'll see what history's got in store! Don’t forget to visit our fabulous website, www.pink-tutu.com, to see all our latest fashion picks!
