#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History: A Look at 1837 - 11 - 07! (Post #306)
Hello darlings! Welcome back to my #TutuTuesday blog, where we delve into the captivating world of ballet history! This week, I've whisked myself back to November the 7th, 1837. Fancy that, a mere 186 years ago! Can you imagine not having a smartphone or instant communication? It's truly a different world, isn't it? But despite the lack of social media, ballet was still flourishing, darling, as always.
I've landed right in the heart of Paris, the city of lights, the fashion capital of the world, and the place where tutus really began to make their mark on the world. You know I couldn't be more thrilled to be in the City of Love, surrounded by the swirling beauty and exquisite grace of ballet!
You'll never guess who arrived on this very day in 1837: The Queen of Tutus, Marie Taglioni!
Remember, she's the legend that put tutus on the map! With her groundbreaking roles in 'La Sylphide', her iconic white, feather-light tutu set the standard for romantic ballet! Just picture the exquisite, weightless fabric swirling around her, representing ethereal, innocent femininity! Sigh Isn't it simply delightful? It's moments like these that truly bring ballet history to life!
On a chilly autumn day in 1837, imagine the bustling streets of Paris, adorned with elegant ladies and gentlemen in their finery. And there's the excitement in the air for tonight's show at the Paris Opera House! Oh, imagine those grand chandeliers glistening in the gaslight, the rich red velvet of the seats, the anticipation buzzing! It simply sends shivers down my spine!
Paris is a whirlwind of sights, sounds, and of course, delightful shopping! Imagine my joy while wandering the bustling boutiques and silk shops. Perhaps I could snag a luxurious ribbon for my own tutu collection - just think how beautiful it would look with a little lavender satin and a delicate lace trim!
You know what else? While in Paris, you absolutely have to experience the train journey, the Chemin de fer de Paris ร Saint-Germain-en-Laye. Such an innovative way to travel! My favourite spot is always right near the window, taking in all the fascinating views as we travel through the beautiful countryside!
Today's #TutuTuesday is all about capturing the elegance and joy of ballet, past and present! Oh, and I do believe I must go on a shopping spree for a Parisian inspired pink tutu! This Parisian charm is certainly a fabulous inspiration for the future of my tutu wardrobe!
Let me know what you think of today's post and, of course, share your own tutu dreams with me.
Stay stylish, and always wear a pink tutu!
Yours,
Emma www.pink-tutu.com
