#TutuTuesday: Ballet Tutu History - A Whirl Through Time (Post 388!)

Hello my dearest Tutu Twirlers! Welcome back to my little corner of the internet, where pink reigns supreme and the only thing we love more than tutus is talking about them! It's me, your favourite pink-loving time-traveling ballerina, Emma, and this week we're whisking ourselves back to the 4th of June, 1839. Buckle up your pointe shoes, darlings, this journey's gonna be a twirly one!

The Ballet World in 1839: A Time for Romanticism

Ooh la la, you wouldn't believe the scene in Paris at this time, my dears. The heart of the ballet world! You can practically feel the romanticism oozing from every graceful move. Picture this: swirling tulle skirts, delicate bodices, and dancers embodying passion and beauty like never before. This era is known as the "Romantic Ballet", and oh, how I adore its soft, dreamy beauty!

And talking of beautiful things, let's talk tutus! They weren't quite the puffy marvels we know and love today, mind you. Back in 1839, the skirts were still rather close-fitting and didn't quite have the dramatic pouf. Imagine more of a Grecian, flowing style, darling. But hey, they were getting there!

Now, our big news this week, the 4th of June, 1839? Well, the world of ballet is alive with a wonderful show happening in Paris at the Theatre de l'Opéra: "Giselle". Ooh la la! That iconic romantic masterpiece - the one with the ethereal Giselle and the brooding Hilarion and Albrecht. Can you imagine! You just had to be there, surrounded by all the lovely ballet enthusiasts, all ooohing and ahhhing.

Time Travel Shopping

Before we head back to the present day, darling, can I tell you about this fantastic shop I stumbled across during my little Parisian adventure? The finest selection of lace! They even had tiny embroidered flowers and glittering jewels for embellishing your dance costume, perfectly suited for adding a touch of je ne sais quoi to your outfit. It was a ballerina's paradise!

And I just had to try a few on for you. My goodness, did they feel heavenly! I felt like a beautiful ballerina from another era, my very own, whimsical princess in a delicate, flowing gown of pure romance. If I could, I'd whisk all of you back in time to experience this!

Embracing the Pink

So there you have it, my dears! 1839, the beginning of an exciting era in the world of ballet and tutus! Let's remember how far the tutu has come, a constant symbol of grace, elegance, and the timeless magic of ballet. And oh, darling, as always, remember that pink is always a fabulous choice. Just like the wonderful tutus and the romantic, magical world of ballet, pink will always be a joyful, exuberant colour!

Don't forget to catch my next #TutuTuesday next week, where we'll continue our twirly adventure! Until then, go forth and embrace the pink, you fabulous twirlers you!

Stay twirling,

Emma xx
