#TutuTuesday: A Whirl Through Time - 17th October 1843
Hello my dearest tutu-loving darlings! It's Emma here, back for another captivating voyage through #TutuTuesday, and let me tell you, this week has been a right royal treat! It's the 17th October 1843, and as always, I'm so excited to share some of the delights I've unearthed in my time travels. Today we find ourselves in Paris, the fashion capital of the world, which is quite fitting, don't you think?
Today's date is significant, as it is the birthday of our very own Parisian heroine: Marie Taglioni, the absolute queen of the tutu. Her iconic dance moves, particularly her grand jeté, had everyone buzzing – she practically revolutionised dance! You'd have to be living under a rock to have missed her show-stopping performances. In fact, Marie’s exquisite movements made people see ballerinas in a new light: as graceful swans, magical fairies, and mystical sylphs, swirling through the air with ease and ethereal elegance. Talk about making a statement, darling!
Speaking of statements, have you seen the latest fashions? They’re absolutely divine! I’m loving the Empire line gowns, with their flowing skirts and delicately fitted bodices. It’s such a flattering look for any shape. Don’t even get me started on the delicate lace trimmings and extravagant embroidery – they make every ensemble just ooze with femininity. It’s no wonder the ladies are so elegant and glamorous in this era!
Now, before you think I've gone all prim and proper, I do have to give a shoutout to the most delightful accessory of the moment: the ballet skirt. Oh, how I adore the light, airy tulle that billows so beautifully! Think airy layers, delicate embroidery, and ribbons galore. They might not quite be the billowing tutus we know and love today, but they were a vital step in that glorious direction.
Speaking of steps, have you tried out a few pas de bourrées today? Remember, ladies, good posture and an elegant gait are essential. Imagine a swan gliding across the stage, a delicate feather touching the water… that’s the grace I strive for. The pas de bourrée might sound daunting, but it’s a charming and simple dance step anyone can master, and who wouldn't want to glide like a graceful swan, huh?
Now, the real beauty of being a time-traveling fashionista is the sheer amount of inspiration. It's an absolute feast for the senses. This era has seen so many amazing changes in dance and fashion. And it is in these moments, seeing the evolution of grace, movement, and fashion that we discover the brilliance of what the future holds! Think about it, the exquisite skirts, those breathtaking movements… it all adds up to an incredibly inspiring world of beauty and grace.
So, my dears, remember to celebrate the beauty of life! Embrace the elegance of this bygone era. Maybe treat yourselves to a brand new silk scarf, some dazzling jewelry, or even a lovely lace-trimmed dress. Remember, your inner swan is just waiting to be unleashed.
As always, I shall leave you to explore your inner ballerina with a flutter of my pink tutu. Keep those dance steps in check, darlings! And don't forget to check out www.pink-tutu.com next week for a brand-new #TutuTuesday. Until then, embrace your own unique style and strut with confidence!
Your loving Tutu Twirler, Emma
