#TutuTuesday: Ballet Tutu History – 1854-05-30 - Post #1170!

Hello lovelies!

Welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com! It’s Tuesday, which means it’s time for our weekly #TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History post!

*Let’s rewind the clock... *

This week, we’re jetting back to 1854, a glorious year for tutus! Today, 30th May, was the anniversary of Carlotta Grisi’s birth. This fabulous Italian ballerina became one of the most celebrated and iconic dancers of her era! If you haven’t heard of her, you must brush up on your ballet history, darling! She truly was a legend!

Fancy footwork & pink frills...

Let’s take a journey together, shall we? I can already see those tutus swirling and ribbons floating through the air, just imagining the joy of being a ballerina in this period! Let’s get some gorgeous inspiration going, just in case you find yourself needing to twirl into the past to visit these historical moments…

The 1850s were all about grace, elegance, and romance. The tutus, you see, became a truly beautiful extension of the dancer. Romantic Ballet was all the rage – a dreamy form of dancing, and the tutus echoed this dreamy spirit. Floaty, romantic layers of tulle (much like the ones I live in!) gave the impression that the dancers were literally dancing on air. And wouldn’t you know it, my darling tutus also happen to float beautifully in the air! It’s a perfect match, don’t you think?

What was I wearing in 1854? A dream in pink, of course!

*I just LOVE imagining how stunningly romantic those tutus would have been! * All that floaty tulle - *think of all the magnificent *frills!!! ** In 1854, they'd be making an appearance in London! Now I’m itching to visit that magical era. Who knows what the theatre is showing today!

I do, of course - I have my handy-dandy pocket watch… * It shows that today, May 30th 1854, it’s all about *Giselle, the epitome of Romantic ballet. Imagine that beautiful tutu… the ethereal grace, the haunting story... Oh my! If I wasn’t going to a fancy ballet dress rehearsal at Covent Garden Theatre myself, you better believe I'd be buying a ticket for Giselle! I'd love to get myself a peek at the ballet box, it would be perfect for snapping an Instagrammable pic! Just think of those fabulous 1850s backdrops, and those pretty Victorian-style set pieces, just the perfect touch!

* Speaking of those glorious tutus of the 1850s.... *

They’ve certainly evolved over time! I wonder what Carlotta Grisi, the fabulous ballet icon we've been chatting about today, would have made of modern-day tutus? I bet she’d love the modern fabric, the bold designs, and the sheer versatility – I mean, tutus are no longer limited to classical ballet, which is just divine! Now that we’ve opened up a fascinating historical world about 1854 and its romantic tutus, it’s time for you and I to enjoy our #TutuTuesday treat!

This week I've picked my favorite outfit of all: It's a blush-pink tutu with silver embellishments and fluffy tulle. A little glitz, a little glam, just what any pink-loving girl needs for a fabulous Tuesday twirl! How absolutely wonderful to wear something that whispers history in every pirouette! Don't forget to follow my blog, darling, and pop over to Pink-Tutu.com for your next twirl!

See you next Tuesday for a fabulously historical #TutuTuesday!
