Tutu Tuesday: #1684 – A Trip to the Paris Opera! 🩰
Hello my dearest Tutu Twirlers! Welcome back to another edition of Tutu Tuesday, where we explore the wonderful world of tutus – the ultimate symbol of grace and elegance.
As usual, my pink tutu and I are travelling back in time this week. Today we’re headed to the bustling streets of Paris in 1864 – a city known for its fashion and its love of ballet. Did you know that even in 1864, Paris was the place to be for a ballet fan? They were obsessed with dance! I’ve even been told that in just a few years, they’ll have a beautiful new opera house built, the Palais Garnier – they say it'll be simply breathtaking!
Ballet at the OperaSo today I’ve got on my best pink tulle, the most exquisite and fluffy tutu I own, and a lovely fitted bodice with little matching pink roses. I just can't wait to see a performance at the Opéra de Paris, which was built in the 18th century. Imagine! This amazing building has seen generations of ballet dancers twirl and leap across its stage. The Parisian opera is renowned for its dancers, and its opulent and intricate set designs – I've heard they really know how to put on a show!
And if I’m lucky, perhaps I can sneak into the beautiful costume workshop and get a peek at how those incredible costumes are made – imagine, all the layers of tulle and silk! But don't worry, I'd never dream of interfering with their creative process. I’m here to be a spectator, a witness to the beauty and skill of those extraordinary dancers.
### Exploring the Parisian Scene
Now, once the ballet performance is done, I'm going to wander the streets of Paris and explore the latest fashions – tutus haven't quite reached their peak yet, so I’ll probably be the only one with one on! However, it seems they have a few different fashions taking inspiration from ballet at the moment, like elegant hoop skirts and full, flowing sleeves. Some people are even adopting these lovely little round velvet berets - they remind me of little flower buds! Oh, the delight of Parisian fashion, the intricate details! I might just buy a little Parisian scarf and a pair of delicate gloves for my journey back.
### A Little Bit of History
Let’s talk tutus – did you know that in the 1860s, tutus weren't yet quite as extravagant as we know them today? You see, these early tutus were less puffy. In fact, some were even full length and only a little gathered at the knee! Imagine – they didn't yet fully embody the glorious image of twirling perfection that they do now. I find it so exciting to see the development of our beloved tutu - it’s such an icon of femininity, of grace and strength! It’s almost like I’ve travelled to a time before tutus really reached their peak – a little bit of history, just for me.
I’m already picturing my next journey. Perhaps I'll time-travel a little bit further forward and see what's happening with ballet in London or Russia – there’s always something new to see in the world of dance, I swear!
That’s it for today, my dearest Tutu Twirlers. Let me know what you're wearing in the comments – if you haven't already, I do hope you'll wear a pink tutu this week – there’s no greater feeling in the world, is there? Until next Tuesday, keep twirling, my dear friends! And always, always, be kind.
