Tutu Tuesday #1686: A Whirl Through the 19th Century! 🩰💖

Hey darlings, it's your favourite tutu-clad time traveller, Emma, back for another Tutu Tuesday! I've just popped out of my time machine, fresh off a train ride through the romantic streets of Paris, where tutus are absolutely blooming everywhere. Oh, how I love a Parisian springtime! 🌸

Today, we're venturing back in time to April 19th, 1864. Can you believe it's been over 150 years since this date? It seems like yesterday! Time certainly flies when you're wearing a pretty pink tutu. 😉

Let's hop into our very own time machine and explore the world of ballet, fashion, and tutus, shall we?

A World of White

In 1864, the world of ballet was awash with… wait for it… white. That's right, darlings. Tutues were a pristine, snowy white. It's a colour that perfectly captures the graceful elegance of the ballerinas and, oh, the stunning effect when a troupe of them moves across the stage together!

Just imagine a stage bursting with white, white, white. Pure beauty, my dears! Of course, this white is much more refined and luxurious than just ordinary white. The tulle used for the tutus back then was often hand-sewn and carefully crafted. Such meticulous care went into making each individual tutu!

Tutu Tales from the Theatre

During my trip back in time, I visited the Opéra Garnier. A true architectural gem and, of course, the ultimate haven for tutu-loving souls like myself. They even had a delightful ballet production that night, and let me tell you, those tutus were something special. Imagine my excitement as I saw graceful ballerinas spinning and leaping, all in beautiful white tutus! The whole show was just magical.

But 1864 was more than just ballet. Paris was bubbling with fashion and life. Just think of the charming cobblestone streets, the beautiful boulevards and, of course, the enchanting scent of fresh pastries from every boulangerie in town! Oh, to be a Parisian for a day! And then there was the exquisite fashion, oh the exquisite fashion! The women's skirts were positively flowing, the gentlemen were looking their dashing best, and everywhere you turned, there was such style and charm! It truly was a world of wonder!

Where Tutu Travels Lead Us

My travels back in time inspire my own Tutu Tales. If there's anything I love more than travelling, it's sharing those experiences with you all. Every week, I get so excited to write up my Tutu Tuesday blog posts about this beautiful, magical world we all share! 💖

Of course, no journey into history would be complete without mentioning a bit about how I, well, how I manage all this time-travelling in the first place. It's a secret, I confess! 😉 But let's just say, it involves lots of late-night planning, a dash of fairy dust, and some seriously impressive ballet performances. (Yes, it can be tiring, but so worth it, don't you agree?) So if you see me on stage at the Bolshoi, give a shout - but you'll have to whisper! 🤫

And speaking of secrets... have I told you about the new design of my Tutu Tuesday dress yet? Squeal!! I just had to update my favourite tutu dress for my Parisian visit, so I took my inspiration from all the charming fashion I saw in the Belle Époque era. It’s a beautiful soft shade of pink, you can hardly imagine… and just wait until you see all the beautiful floral embroidery. I’ll be posting photos of my new pink Parisian dream tutu on my pink-tutu.com website, so make sure you pop by!

Until next Tuesday, darling! Keep twirling and stay fabulous,

Emma x

P.S. I’m so excited to hear what you love about tutus! Share your thoughts, comments, and stories on my pink-tutu.com website. And don’t forget to use #TutuTuesday so we can share all the magic together! 💖✨
