Tutu Tuesday: #1874 - A Whirl Through the Parisian Ballet 🩰💖

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, your resident tutu enthusiast and time-traveling fashionista, back for another #TutuTuesday journey! This week, I'm twirling back to 26th November, 1867, right here in Paris, the beating heart of the ballet world!

As you know, the year 1867 is all about fashion! We have the stunning Paris Universal Exhibition showcasing the most amazing inventions and incredible clothing from across the globe, and the theatre is alive with beautiful ballet performances. Imagine! I’m in a Parisian theatre, squealing with delight over the dazzling outfits, the enchanting stories, and the sheer beauty of the dancing! Just a tiny bit jealous, I must admit!

Let's be honest, ladies, Paris is the place to be if you’re passionate about the beautiful ballet. From the moment you step onto the bustling streets, you're immersed in a whirl of elegance, art, and of course, that incredible Parisian flair.

Ballet In 1867

The year 1867 marks an important time for ballet! I'm so happy to report the famous Parisian ballet company, the Paris Opera Ballet, was celebrating its grand anniversary! Just imagine the costumes, the spectacular productions, the music…and most importantly, the dancing! The ballet, even back in the Victorian era, was such a magnificent spectacle - a real spectacle of artistic brilliance! A truly magical world, which of course, involved tutus!

A Ballet-Tastic Tutu Tour

Today, I’m heading for the Opera Garnier, a majestic opera house, right in the heart of Paris! This theatre has witnessed some of the greatest ballerinas grace its stage. It’s such a treat just to stand outside, to absorb the magnificence of the architecture! Imagine how magical it is inside, with all those beautiful costumes and stunning set designs! The elegant tutus must be a vision in this gorgeous opera house! They say that the stage here, at the Opera Garnier, has played host to all the big-name dancers from the 19th century and even back to the French Revolution. That’s impressive!

While you're here, you must absolutely visit the Palais Garnier museum - I was here just a few weeks ago. I was stunned by the collections of the beautiful theatrical costumes and, of course, the delicate tutus - they are simply spectacular!
The details on each tutu are breathtaking - you have the full length of the tutu made in delicate tulle and the beautiful bodice to enhance the form of the female ballerina - it really does highlight the graceful elegance of the ballet dancer.

The Tutu That Won My Heart! 💖

As you all know, I am obsessed with tutus, so a trip to the theatre is always going to be filled with excitement! You can only imagine the rush of excitement when I discover a new style, or perhaps a rare design I haven’t seen before. Here, the Paris Opera Ballet has had some fascinating variations in their tutu styles! I've been looking closely at all those lovely styles: some are more delicate, others more theatrical with lovely feathered detail - a real visual delight! One of my favorites is called the Romantic Tutu. It’s shorter than the classical tutu, a little more fluffy and less structured and it features lots of tulle - such a treat!

I imagine all the excitement in the theatre when those lovely ballerinas take the stage, in these amazing tutus. It’s what dreams are made of - and, frankly, something I live for.

Travel, Fashion, and … the Ballet!

Right now, my love for fashion and ballet have inspired me to hop on the Eurostar - it's a magical ride that whisks me right from the pretty English countryside to Paris in just a few short hours! This gorgeous Parisian ballet season is one that everyone should put in their diary! So many spectacular shows with enchanting storylines, beautifully detailed sets, and those magical ballet tutus.

*The Next Tutu Tuesday… *

Don’t forget, darlings, next week, on Tuesday, we will be exploring another era in the tutu’s history! Who knows which glamorous time period I’ll be in! Maybe a glimpse into the wonderful world of the Belle Epoque? Or perhaps a trip to the grand ballrooms of the Russian Empire, or maybe the decadent, flamboyant Italian theatre world?

Join me next week on #TutuTuesday to find out! And, remember, don’t be afraid to twirl and make the world your stage, my darlings! We have tutus to wear! I'll be posting another blog every Tuesday here, at www.pink-tutu.com so keep up-to-date on all things tutu!

Until next week, darling!

Warmly, Emma xx
