#TutuTuesday: Ballet Tutu History - August 30th, 1870 - Post #2018
Hello darlings! Welcome back to another edition of #TutuTuesday, where we take a whimsical journey through the history of the ballet tutu! ๐ฉฐ
As you all know, I'm Emma, your tutu-loving time traveller and your guide through the fabulous world of dance. This week, we're venturing to August 30th, 1870, and oh my goodness, are you in for a treat!
Before we jump into the history, let me just tell you about my adventures this week. Imagine my delight when I arrived in Paris! This city is positively overflowing with elegance and fashion. I spent a glorious afternoon browsing the most exquisite Parisian boutiques, all the while sporting my favourite pink tutu, naturally! ๐
My fellow Parisians seemed to adore the bright, bold colour. Honestly, pink is the colour for a tutu, wouldn't you agree? It's simply impossible to feel anything but joyous when you're swirling around in a pink tutu.
And then there was the ballet performance! My favourite part? Watching the incredible dancers grace the stage, their tutus fluttering and swirling as they danced their hearts out. Sigh I just love it when a good tutu really shines.
Now, let's go back to the year 1870. ๐ฐ๏ธ
It's the era of Romantic ballet, a time where ethereal beauty and intricate movements held centre stage. And as for our star of the show, the ballet tutu?
Imagine this: a "Romantic Tutu", which is basically the perfect blend of elegance and drama. Picture it: it's all layers and layers of billowing, sheer tulle that dances with every movement. It creates a cloud of dreamy fabric around the dancer, perfect for those breathtaking leaps and pirouettes.
Imagine the wonder on the faces of the audience as they witnessed this stunning vision. There's just something about a ballerina in a Romantic Tutu that makes your heart flutter. The delicate fabric and intricate embroidery simply enhance the artistry and elegance of the ballet. โจ
So what's going on in the world on this date, August 30th, 1870? ๐
Well, the Franco-Prussian War is taking centre stage, unfortunately. But let's be honest, war is far less interesting than the history of the ballet tutu! ๐
Speaking of tutus, the Romantic Tutu continued to reign supreme on stage. And you know what, the designers just kept experimenting, creating new variations of this amazing garment, constantly seeking to bring a fresh look and style. I must say, there was nothing these designers couldn't create with their sheer, shimmering tulle!
That's it for this week, my darlings! Thank you for joining me on this #TutuTuesday journey. Let's remember that tutus aren't just for ballerinas โ let's embrace the joy and elegance they bring, no matter what we're doing! ๐
