Tutu Tuesday: #2082 - A Peek into the Past!

Hello darlings! Emma here, your resident Tutu Tuesday enthusiast, ready to take you on another whimsical journey through time, all in the name of the glorious tutu!

Today, I'm channeling my inner time-travelling ballerina and hopping back to November 21st, 1871. Picture this: cobblestone streets, gaslight flickering in the twilight, and the faint scent of horse-drawn carriages wafting through the air. I’m feeling particularly stylish in my hot pink tutu, the colour of the most exquisite candyfloss!

Ah, Paris! The city of love, fashion, and of course, ballet! Today, the grand Palais Garnier is buzzing with excitement as dancers prepare for tonight's performance of "La Source". Now, you might be thinking, “What on earth is a Source, Emma?” Well, darling, you wouldn't believe the enchanting story! A ballet brimming with exotic dancers, glittering costumes, and even a dash of scandalous love! It's definitely not your average tea party, that’s for sure!

Speaking of enchanting, have you ever thought about what a tutu really is, aside from being utterly fabulous? They weren’t always the cloud-like pouffes of tulle we adore today. Imagine my shock! Back in 1871, a tutu, well, it was basically just a short, fluffy skirt, just reaching the knees, like a ballerina’s adorable, mischievous mini-dress!

Honestly, this whole journey through history just goes to show you, there’s always something new to learn about ballet and, of course, the tutu. I adore the way that ballet, even the simplest movements, are so tied up with fashion.

Before I take off back to the future, where I'm busy with my own rehearsals and a secret ballet performance at the Albert Hall in London tomorrow (I can't share any details - hush, hush!), let's take a quick peek at what happened in history on November 21st, 1871. This is what I found in my vintage journal, just in case you're looking for a fun trivia question:

  • November 21st, 1871 was the birth of Frank Lloyd Wright, a legendary American architect known for his innovative designs and unique vision of building structures in harmony with nature. So chic!

And finally, a question for all you fabulous followers! I know some of you are already hardcore tutu enthusiasts. But for those of you who aren't yet quite sold on the magic of the tutu - what is stopping you? I want to hear your excuses - but then I'm going to tell you exactly why they are WRONG! ;)

Until next Tuesday, my lovelies, keep twirling, keep believing in the beauty of ballet and, of course, keep dreaming in pink. I'll be posting my latest Tutu Tuesday blog next week! Remember to share #PinkTutu on Instagram to inspire everyone to take a leap into the joy of ballet! I'm always on the hunt for the most stunning pink tutu fashion moments to share!

And if you ever see me flitting through the halls of history, don't hesitate to come say hello. After all, there's always room for one more pink tutu in the world!
