Tutu Tuesday #2193: A Victorian Vision of the Tutu!

Bonjour mes chers amis, it's Emma here, your pink tutu-loving, ballet-obsessed, time-travelling blogger, back with another Tutu Tuesday!

Can you believe we’ve reached January 6th 1874 already? Time is whizzing by, and so is my ballet-fuelled travelling! Today, I’ve landed myself right in the heart of Parisian chic, ready to take in all the beautiful fashion and, of course, the glorious ballet! I tell you what, a little ballet class never goes amiss, and I'm off to the grandest studio in town this very afternoon - I'm simply bursting with anticipation. I even snagged the prettiest pink tutu for the occasion - oh, it's a dream, just a light flurry of silk and lace!

Before we dive into all the dazzling tutu delights of the day, let's have a quick chat about how the tutu was transforming back in this Victorian era. Now, you see, the tutu wasn't a complete game-changer yet! The tutus we know and love today were still taking shape, being woven with new fabric, changing in style. You wouldn't see the sleek, minimalist styles we know today – this was the era of fluffy, flowing, billowing fabric! Think romantic, almost ethereal creations, a whirlwind of movement. And let's not forget the iconic colour! Yes, pink! It was all the rage back then! Pink tutus, the most breathtakingly delicate and charming shade of pink. Every ballerine dreamed of twirling in one!

Speaking of twirling, this day just happens to be the anniversary of the opening of the Paris Opéra's stunning new Palais Garnier! Talk about opulent! Talk about grand! This masterpiece of architecture with its awe-inspiring design became an icon of beauty, a ballet haven. Today, I'll be taking in all that gorgeousness and soaking up the elegance of ballet! And I'm determined to make it even more spectacular by twirling around the grand foyer, dressed in my own exquisite pink tutu. A girl’s gotta make a splash!

Now, my lovely readers, let me tell you, fashion and ballet are so intertwined. In fact, you could even say they are sisters. One wouldn't be complete without the other. They're like... a beautifully crafted tutu and a perfectly fitted pair of pointe shoes. Imagine the two separated - a scandal, I say!

Today, the trend is for the elegant and refined! A touch of drama, but nothing too flashy! Long, flowing dresses in shimmering satin and delicate lace, perfect for a delightful waltz or a charming stroll through the Parisian gardens. We've even seen tutus being adorned with exquisite flower embellishments, sparkling with rhinestones, making them appear even more luxurious. Just a little added sprinkle of magic, you see?

But what about you dear readers? I just know that at least a few of you are just as enchanted by the beauty of tutus as I am! Go ahead and tell me your favourite moments from your own ballet experiences! Did you witness a beautiful ballet performance? Maybe you even have a secret Tutu Tuesday tradition of your own? Let's fill the comment section with our own #TutuTuesday stories!

Oh, and just remember: whether you’re in 1874 Paris or your own backyard, remember: you've got your very own pink tutu power inside of you. It’s time to release it! Embrace the joy, embrace the elegance, and always, always remember to dance your way through life! Until next time, darlings!
