Hello my dearest tutu-loving friends!

Welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com, where tutus are always in bloom!

As you all know, my passion is sharing the wonder of tutus - their history, their artistry, and of course, their sheer loveliness! It's Tuesday, so it's time to delve into another #TutuTuesday post, exploring a fascinating era in tutu history - 1877.

My travels today took me to the very heart of tutu fandom – Paris, that dazzling city of lights! I could feel the buzz of fashion, the murmur of excitement as I stepped off the train. Can you imagine my excitement, stepping into a world where ballet was just blooming, where tutus were the height of fashion and everyone from the grand dames to the cafe dancers sported their own variations!

Oh, my! The first thing I saw when I popped my head out of the train carriage was a lovely lady in a breathtaking silk tutu - the very epitome of French chic! She swished past me, creating a delightful whirlwind of silk and lace. Just thinking about it makes my heart flutter.

On the streets, the energy crackled! Paris in 1877 was a hub of artistry. The elegant theaters brimmed with life – ballet was a thrilling, exciting and absolutely enchanting spectacle. It’s a bit like the magic of a street performer today, you can feel the audience holding their breath as the magic happens on stage. I felt an intense desire to put on my own tutu and dance alongside those captivating dancers – imagine that, me and all those wonderful Parisians performing together on a grand stage!

Ah, but first, a bit about our wonderful tutu. In 1877, tutus were really coming into their own - those delicate layers of tulle, swirling and swaying with every graceful move. They were starting to embrace a variety of lengths, showcasing more of the dancer's limbs. Can you imagine, being able to move so freely in that delicate, effortlessly flowing tulle? I have been trying out some designs of my own based on this period and let me tell you the length and movement are fabulous! It’s really got me thinking about adding a Parisian inspired collection of tutus to Pink-Tutu! What do you think, my dearest tutu-loving friends?

Today, we can really see the beginnings of the modern tutu taking shape. The designers, the performers - they were daring to experiment with shape and form!

In fact, my own tutu is an homage to those very early days of the modern tutu. A delightful shade of pink naturally, with a delicate flowing layer that's as soft and romantic as the Parisian air. I can’t wait to wear it tonight – I'm seeing "La Sylphide", one of the earliest ballets! Can you believe I can still feel that thrilling rush of excitement, of being completely enthralled, knowing I'm sharing a magical moment with history?

And that's what's so special about the tutu, darling! It’s more than a garment – it’s an invitation to dream, to escape to a world of elegance and grace. And let me tell you, I can’t get enough!

My dearest tutu friends, I know you have some fantastic tales of tutus to tell too! Share your own #TutuTuesday experiences! Let’s keep this lovely little corner of the internet a celebration of all things tutu!

But first, let's talk about something fabulous happening on this particular date in history - August 7th 1877!

Today marks the opening of the Théâtre National de l'Opéra-Comique, in the heart of Paris! A glorious celebration of theatre, music, and you guessed it, dancing! This exciting theatre became a haven for dancers and a breeding ground for innovation and creativity, and in its opening night they performed an opera based on a novel about an Irish family! How fascinating, don't you think? The plot involved romantic drama, an exciting love story and an array of exciting dance sequences! What's not to love!

Fashion and shopping!

Now, no journey to Paris in 1877 would be complete without a stop at the iconic stores of the day! You can almost feel the thrill of the latest fashions, the whispers of “Oh la la!” echoing from every elegant corner. Oh darling, I bought a charming pink hat adorned with feathers, perfectly matched with my pink tutu. How divine! And if you're like me, you know that the most fabulous tutus aren't just for stage – they’re the perfect finishing touch to a day of Parisian sightseeing!

It's just lovely to think how the tutu, with its delicate swirls and ethereal beauty, captured the imagination of those Parisians in the same way it still inspires us today! We can see how tutus have become an emblem of imagination and elegance! I can only dream of what tomorrow holds for our love affair with the tutu. It’s more than just a garment, my darlings, it's a story, a history and an unending journey of enchantment.

Now, let's all embrace the tutu! And let me know in the comments if you’d like to know more about those wonderful dancers in the world of 1877.

Until next time,

Stay fabulous, and may your life always be filled with the grace and joy of tutu!
