Today's date – 22nd of July, 1879 – marks a truly special occasion in the ballet world. It was on this very date that a young, vivacious ballerina named Marie Taglioni graced the stage of the Paris Opera, clad in a creation that would become a symbol of both beauty and grace: a gloriously romantic and flowing white tulle tutu.
Can you picture it, my darlings? Imagine the gaslights illuminating the grand opera house, the velvet-clad patrons settling in for an unforgettable evening of theatre.
