#TutuTuesday: A Glimpse into the Past! (Post #2537)

Hello lovelies! It's Emma here, your resident tutu-obsessed time traveler, bringing you another delightful dose of Ballet Tutu History! Today, we're stepping back in time to the 10th of August, 1880. Can you believe it? We're venturing into the Victorian era, a time of intricate lace, voluminous skirts, and yes, you guessed it, tutus!

Oh, how I adore the Victorian Era! Think of the fashion! All that drama! And as a huge fan of the stage, I must confess, I absolutely swoon over the grandeur of Victorian theatre. You wouldn't find your everyday pointe shoes backstage, darlings, it was all about silk and satin.

The train journey through time is a whirlwind, by the way. And darling, I'm not just referring to the trains we ride back in the Victorian Era, mind you! You see, I've chosen a special pink tutu for this adventure - think soft pastel hues with layers of frills - a delightful nod to the Victorian aesthetic! It's so light and airy, just like the dreams of ballerinas from that period. Just imagine waltzing through a scene set in a bygone era, a pink puff of delightful femininity amongst the velvet and the lace.

Speaking of the Victorian Era, can you picture those dramatic theatrical productions with the ladies waltzing onstage, the delicate dance steps gracefully twirling under their gowns - what a dream! Think, Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Twelfth Night, they were all graced by beautiful dancers wearing graceful dresses inspired by, gasp, tutues. These early stage dancers, dressed in those extravagant designs, sparked the beginnings of what we see today - that's why I call it Ballet Tutu History! You see, itโ€™s not just about the form of the tutu, darlings, itโ€™s about the story, the evolution, the inspiration.

And just where is this journey taking us, you ask? Oh, it's London, darling! And what a delight to witness it. Can you imagine strolling through the Victorian streets, with the horse-drawn carriages passing by, the bustling crowds, and the theatre lights beckoning? There is energy here! A city bursting with imagination! And if you are anything like me, darling, that's just what we thrive on!

Well, I have so much to tell you about the Victorian Era, it's such a fabulous source of ballet inspiration. You will not be disappointed, my loves.

I was just admiring this exquisite antique ballet poster I found earlier, from August 10th, 1880 - It features the stunning actress and dancer, Lily Langtry. Isn't it beautiful?

Imagine this! You could have been at that show all those years ago. I'm thinking - the opulent set, the dazzling costumes, the magical choreography - what a night to dream about, isn't it? And speaking of dreams, I can see that stunning Lily Langtry wearing a magnificent tulle skirt! It is the absolute essence of that romantic era. The Victorians really understood femininity. Don't you just love this dramatic period?

Oh, it's a real treasure I found today, the Victorian Era, simply oozes inspiration, my loves! So, take a good look around your closet and tell me what you find, or if you're in Derbyshire like me, then you will surely treasure those elegant antique markets I told you about. Who knows what historical beauty you might find?

I'm back on Wednesday to chat all about ballet tutus. We'll be taking a peek into a time where dancers, such as Lily Langtry, graced the stages. And don't worry about all the Victorian era etiquette, darlings. My Pink Tutu Blog is all about the positivity and the love of ballet! So take my hand, darling, and let's embark on our time travel journey together - you won't be disappointed!

Oh, don't forget to leave a comment or a like, I do love to see how many Pink Tutu fans we have out there!

Yours,

Emma x
