Tutu Tuesday: A Whirl Through 1881 - Post 2596

Hello, darlings! Emma here, your friendly neighbourhood tutu enthusiast, ready to whisk you back in time for another captivating #TutuTuesday! Today, we’re hopping aboard the express train to 27th September, 1881!

Now, imagine if you will, the streets of Paris, a city bursting with joie de vivre, a whirlwind of fashion and art. Picture those magnificent Parisian ladies in their exquisite gowns, flouncing around with effortless elegance, and then, there's us, in our tutu, a whirlwind of our own!

As I step out onto the bustling streets of Paris, a little pink cloud of tulle swirling around my feet, I am truly transported back to the heart of the Parisian ballet scene! Back then, tutus weren't just for ballerinas; they were an inspiration to fashionistas around the world!

Just imagine the delightful surprise you'd create walking down a street packed with ladies wearing massive crinolines! You would stand out - an enchanting flurry of tulle against the heavy silhouettes!

The World of 1881 - Through a Pink Tutu

It's been a delightful time traveling through the 19th century, discovering all these glorious, grand fashion statements. A bit stuffy for our tastes, don't you think? They haven't quite found the magic of the tutu yet!

Here in Paris, ballet is as alive as ever. The Ballet de l’Opéra de Paris is captivating audiences with spectacular performances. They haven't quite caught on to the fluffy, fabulous world of the romantic tutu yet - those are a little later in time, don't you worry. We're helping pave the way, with my little pink cloud!

But even back in 1881, the groundwork was being laid. Imagine, even with no glittery, flowing tutus, the ballerinas still graced the stage with elegance, showing the world how captivating a dance performance can be.

Tutu Trends:

Did you know that tutus haven't always been that fluffy, glorious sight we see on stage today? While tutus haven't exactly conquered the world yet in 1881, we see their evolution right here in Paris. Ballet costumes, even in their early form, are inspiring the designs of women's clothing - which, in my humble opinion, only makes them all the more intriguing!

A Little Bit of History:

Speaking of Paris! Did you know the first official ballet academy in the world was founded right here, in 1661, during the reign of Louis XIV? We have a lot to thank him for, that lovely, extravagant, charming king! He brought dancing into the world of high art, inspiring fashion with every beautiful twirl.

As I hop onto my train, back to my own time, I can't help but feel inspired! I'm so excited to see how ballet evolves, especially with my help spreading the love of all things pink and tutu! I just know the tutus will be conquering the world soon.

But now, it's time for another grand adventure.

Remember, darlings, never be afraid to express yourself! A pink tutu is the perfect way to embrace your inner ballerina, no matter where you are or what time period you're visiting. Until next time, let your inner twirl fly free, and remember, the world needs more pink tutus!

Yours in tulle,

Emma.
