Tutu Tuesday: #2603 - A Whirl Through 1881! 🩰🌸
Hello my dearest Tutu-loving lovelies! Welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com and another thrilling journey through time! Today, we’re pirouetting our way back to the elegant and whimsical year of 1881, a period overflowing with stunning fashion and dance!
Oh, darling, this was truly a time when tutus really were something special! You know me, I’m all about celebrating those early pioneers of tutus – those amazing dancers who had the bravery to boldly leap onto the stage in those flowing, frothy delights.
Right, so before I launch into this wonderful historical tour de force, you simply must join me on a delightful daydream: Imagine yourself on a bustling train carriage, journeying towards London town. (Goodness, train journeys were an absolute marvel in themselves back then, a true testament to the incredible feats of human invention!) But what's on your mind? Of course, the latest Parisian fashions - wouldn't a new tulle gown with cascading ruffles be simply heavenly?
A Waltz Through 1881 Ballet
This journey's taking us to Covent Garden. The stage is aglow, the music fills the air with romantic melody. As I settle into the velvety theatre seat, a wave of pure delight washes over me - I adore a good old-fashioned ballet show, especially when the tutus are in their most fabulous glory!
Can you imagine the buzz of anticipation as the curtain rises? The air crackles with excitement, each guest aglow with admiration for the performers on stage. They say ballet was at the height of its popularity in this era, with audiences fully captivated by these dancers - and let’s face it, who can blame them?!
Just think about it – every twirl, every graceful arabesque, and every grand jeté would be a truly magical spectacle with those stunning tutus! The craftsmanship of the period! Imagine the delicate hand-stitching and the intricate layering of tulle, meticulously created for each individual dancer.
15th November? A Monday, I believe? We might be able to see a performance by the famous dancer, Lucille Grahn. She’s a real delight – a ballerina with such effortless grace and dramatic flair! The fact that this captivating ballet is being performed in that dazzlingly historic space is just beyond magical. Every fibre of my being says I’m going to be swept away by the performances tonight.
Tutues Beyond the Stage!
As a true devotee of the delectable delights that are tutus, my journey through time is never complete without delving into the fascinating history of tutu styles themselves. Imagine this: Those early tutus, though still very beautiful, were much more voluminous and more flamboyant compared to those iconic, modern tutu silhouettes! I do adore a good, flowing, grand tulle creation. I feel that sometimes those earlier designs were just a bit more theatrical. They embraced the magic of movement - an expression of the most extravagant imagination, simply put.
Now, think about the outfits worn off stage at that time. Those dramatic evening gowns, my darling! So elegant and sweeping - those ladies are quite unrivaled in terms of glamour, and I do think it would be fascinating to study those gowns further. Oh, wouldn't we just love to dress up like them?!
But let’s not forget that our delightful time travelers do have something in common with the ballet dancers of 1881 - we both just adore a good time! In that day, people flocked to the theatres to revel in a world of spectacle and delight - it was all about the romance and the magic of performance. Wouldn't it be wonderful if that still echoed through the halls of theatres today?
Pink Perfection and a Touch of Inspiration
The 1880s - the glorious beginning of my favourite time period when it comes to tutu style. In all my adventures in time, it's always those elegant, intricate tulle skirts that truly catch my eye - a symphony of elegance and femininity!
And as you all know, I always go for that lovely pink colour in my tutus. Think of a vintage pink silk tutu. A lovely blush that perfectly contrasts the crisp white of a ballet slipper - a truly lovely, elegant design! Perhaps I will experiment with this beautiful shade in a future fashion venture.
Just a little thought to inspire your own fashion choices – think of combining that elegant pink colour with a soft pastel gown! It would be so effortlessly glamorous!
What I'm Excited About Now:
My sweet Tutu enthusiasts, the excitement doesn’t end here. Today I’m simply delighted to say I'll be enjoying the most stunning ballet performance. Can't wait to be immersed in the enchantment of the theatre, to watch those beautiful tutu's spin across the stage! My camera’s prepped for capturing those moments of exquisite movement, all ready for some fantastic #TutuTuesday Instagram action!
