#TutuTuesday: Ballet Tutu History - Post 2613! 🩰
Hey there, darlings! Emma here, your resident tutu enthusiast, back for another installment of #TutuTuesday. Today, I'm transporting us back in time – no, not via my magical pink tutu – but via my ever-reliable time machine, aka the railway! (Do I mention it often? Maybe, but honestly, trains are just so glamorous!).
Today, we're journeying to the grand old year of 1882, to explore a fascinating snippet of ballet tutu history. It's like stepping straight out of a storybook! Just picture this: cobblestone streets, horse-drawn carriages, and…oh, the tutus! (You just know it was tres chic back then!).
A Little Parisian CharmThe heart of ballet history in 1882 was most certainly Paris. Paris is my ultimate city – it just screams fashion and sparkle! The French were pioneering a movement towards a very different type of tutu. Remember our tutus from yesterday's post, all layered and full, almost fluffy – they were still about, but not quite the height of fashion!
The 1880s ushered in a new style: The Romantic Tutu! Imagine a longer tutu – imagine flounces of shimmering fabrics gracefully flowing as the ballerinas moved! They looked just divine. (The fabric used, yes, I have to ask the obvious, was it a gorgeous shade of pink?! I suspect so!)
1882: The Dance of the HoursJust think of the incredible performances! 1882 saw ballet take flight like never before! This was a period of incredible growth and creativity, bringing us iconic choreographies, some of which still stand strong in the ballets we adore today!
I've read all about The Dance of the Hours – what a truly breathtaking ballet! (Just thinking about the tutues and costumes! Ooh la la!). It’s still considered one of the most memorable! Imagine the impact these performances must have had on everyone! A whirl of colour and sheer talent… truly enchanting.
Tutu Time!Today's a fabulous day for getting your tutu on and twirling, darling. Imagine those beautiful Parisian tutus of 1882 flowing around you. So, grab your tutu, pop on your favourite playlist – and maybe even a little pink – and channel your inner ballerina. And, do remember, tutus are for everyone, regardless of age! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise!
See you next week for another journey through #TutuTuesday! Don’t forget to keep spreading the Tutu love at www.pink-tutu.com. Let’s make the world a more pink-tiful place! 😉
Lots of love,
Emma 💖
