#TutuTuesday: Ballet Tutu History - August 14th 1883 - Post #2694

Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink-tutu-clad time traveller, Emma, here, and today's #TutuTuesday takes us all the way back to the glorious summer of 1883. Just imagine! No smartphones, no Instagram, but still, so much fabulousness to be had, especially in the world of ballet!

My trip to 1883 was a whirlwind, I can tell you! Paris was a dream, especially the opera houses! I spent ages admiring the costumes, and the ballerinas - oh, they were so graceful and elegant, the very definition of feminine charm. I found myself seated next to a gentleman with a magnificent handlebar moustache and a monocle - just imagine the fabulousness!

A Brief Peek at Parisian Ballet Fashion in 1883

Now, picture this: imagine a tutu crafted from silk and tulle, soft as a whisper, but strong enough to twirl and pirouette in. And the colours - they were simply divine! Rich velvets and shimmering satins adorned the stage, and the ballerinas, all graceful swans and sparkling diamonds, danced their hearts out. There was a whole symphony of pink and rose, and hints of pearl grey and buttercup yellow that set off the delicate features of the ballerinas to perfection. It was a true explosion of beauty!

But you know, something rather fascinating struck me as I observed the ballerinas. The tutus, while oh-so-beautiful and romantic, were still a far cry from the streamlined, streamlined designs we see today. Think long, cascading layers of tulle, creating a breathtaking, almost magical illusion. The ballerina wasn't simply dancing, she was practically floating, enveloped in a swirling cloud of tulle!

The real show-stopper though? The colours! My goodness! Imagine being surrounded by the deepest, richest ruby reds and the most breathtaking cobalt blues - it truly made the dancers soar above the stage. Now, I must confess, there wasn't a single pink tutu in sight, but that's what I'm here for, right? Spreading the joy and elegance of the colour pink with a sprinkle of magical tutu dust!

And What Happened on August 14th 1883?

Today, we're celebrating the birth of an absolute legend: Marie Taglioni. Oh, she was a dream! An epitome of grace and delicacy, a true embodiment of romanticism on stage. Now, I couldn't find any records of her on August 14th, but this doesn't diminish the joy of celebrating this incredible dancer and her legacy! She was a true revolutionary in the world of ballet.

You know, I'm so grateful to be a time traveller. I've learned so much about the history of ballet and fashion and how it all evolved! But, my mission remains the same: to get everyone wearing a pink tutu!

And what's even better, my darlings, I've been putting all my amazing experiences to use and I've designed a gorgeous, limited-edition pink tutu that I will be selling on the Pink Tutu website for a very special limited time only. Trust me, itโ€™s absolutely exquisite - perfect for all my fabulous, fashion-conscious, pink-tutu-loving friends! You wonโ€™t want to miss it.

Until next Tuesday,

Love,

Emma
