Hello, my darling Tutu-licious readers! Welcome back to your favourite corner of the internet, www.pink-tutu.com! ๐
It's me, Emma, your pink-loving, tutu-adoring, travel-happy, time-bending ballerina, here with a brand new #TutuTuesday installment for you all! Today, we're waltzing back to 20th April 1886, a date bursting with stories of elegance and innovation. Prepare yourselves for a delightful journey to the heart of Parisian fashion!
My Tutu Travels!
Now, I wouldn't be me without a little bit of travel-tastic intrigue, would I? So before we dive into the history, let me share a snippet of my latest adventure: A breathtaking performance in the Royal Opera House in London. It was an absolute delight, I twirled my way through a vibrant rendition of "Giselle," leaving audiences enraptured with every leap and arabesque. You know, dancing is a fantastic way to pay for your time-traveling escapades - all that applause practically pays for my next hop back in time! โจ
The Power of Pink and Tutus in 1886
So, dear readers, 1886. Think extravagant ball gowns, intricate hairstyles, and a world beginning to embrace the dazzling spectacle of ballet. While tutus, in the way we know them today, were still making their mark on the scene, their presence was becoming increasingly prevalent. And who knows, perhaps my dear friend, Marie Taglioni, the ballet icon, has a grand performance planned on this very day!
The Paris Ballet and Beyond
I must tell you, Paris is like a magical box full of ballerina dreams! It is simply the place to be for ballet, style and fashion. The Paris Opera Ballet, renowned for its elegance and precision, was truly coming into its own in 1886. Their graceful movements and stunning costumes were making a huge impact on the world of ballet and fashion. This is where it all started! You can truly see the impact of the Paris Opera Ballet all over the world today.
A Glimpse of Ballet in London
Let's venture across the Channel and have a peek into London's theatrical world. You can imagine, dear readers, the buzz in the theatres around London. There's nothing quite like the charm of Victorian theatres, so opulent and romantic. In 1886, Londoners were captivated by ballerinas twirling in the enchanting world of ballet! It wasn't as big as it is today in the UK, but this is when it really started to capture people's imaginations!
Fashion and Fashionable Influences
It's time to talk fashion, my favourite subject, darling readers! Now, back in 1886, fashion designers were becoming more inspired by ballet, taking those elegant and graceful silhouettes, adding the beautiful embellishment, and giving it a unique Parisian twist. This beautiful form of dancing definitely influenced trends for many years. Even the fabrics they used became a touch more delicate, moving towards the flow of fabric so essential to ballerina costumes.
Why I Love This Time Period
My favourite thing about this time period is just how graceful everything seems, and so simple! There was a elegance about fashion, art, theatre and ballet which has been lost a little bit today. While I love a touch of neon and sequins, there was something beautifully unpretentious about the fashions of this era, and how they drew inspiration from this stunning dance.
So, my Tutu-loving dears, what do you think of our #TutuTuesday waltz through time? I truly believe that ballet history is a story full of joy, grace, and a touch of magic. As I keep exploring these bygone eras, I will keep you all up to date on how tutu fashion, and fashion influenced by tutus has changed over the years. Keep those comments coming and share your own tutu-licious adventures! Until next time, may your tutus twirl and your spirits shine! ๐
