#TutuTuesday: A Whirl Through Time! ๐Ÿฉฐ

Welcome back, dear readers, to Pink Tutu! This is post #2989 - can you believe it? We've been on this incredible journey together for so long! And just as I'm never one to shirk a little adventure, today's #TutuTuesday is taking us on a trip to the enchanting, and oh-so-stylish, world of 1889. Grab your pinkest tutu, and let's get ready to twirl through time! ๐Ÿ’–

(Fun fact! Did you know I get to fund all my fabulous time travelling by performing ballet? Just the other week I did a piece inspired by a beautiful French dancer. Can you guess who it was? Leave a comment below!)

This week's journey took me all the way to London, England, which is just teeming with so much creativity and artistic buzz. The heart of ballet in 1889 was absolutely beating within the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden - imagine all that beautiful fabric!

And what a day to arrive! April 9th, 1889, the day that "Giselle" opened in London. A perfect example of the captivating and emotional artistry that made ballet so thrilling in the Victorian era. Of course, we have the romantic stories - and how absolutely gorgeous were the ballerinas' tutus?! Imagine yourself as Giselle in a dreamy, billowing tutu - a confection of pale pink tulle and satin, a masterpiece of poetic elegance. (Of course, not just for performances, but every day - everyone needs a little magic, even on a Monday!).

It wasn't all tutus and romantic ballets, though - you know I love my shopping, darling! The great emporium, Liberty & Co., was an absolute must-visit and a haven for the finest textiles and embellishments. This year they debuted an array of the most delicate and elaborate "liberty silks", these were becoming all the rage, perfect for adding that luxurious touch to even the simplest of tutus. I have a vision for a vintage pink tutu, with the finest silk ribbons for a charming vintage touch, how does that sound?!

Speaking of fashion, London in 1889 was like a whirlwind of beautiful colors. Just picture yourself strolling down a street full of ladies with delicate parasols, long gloves and the most stunning corseted gowns. And a charming array of pink! The paler, softer shades of pink, like "blush pink" and "pastel pink" were definitely trending. Just perfect for those days when you need something soft, yet utterly feminine. Imagine yourself waltzing through the city in a beautiful rose-hued tulle, a pink tulle ribbon tied at your waist with a bow, accenting your pale pink satin slippers - simply irresistible! ๐Ÿ’–

One of the exciting things about the past, especially Victorian times, was the attention to detail. They truly believed in celebrating beauty, creating a truly luxurious experience for ballet fans and everyday folks alike! From the gorgeous, meticulously-designed theater decor to the extravagant, hand-painted programs and playbills, it was almost like going to an art museum and having the show unfold in front of you! I simply adore the visual feasts! What a magical experience it is to be surrounded by such captivating details.

Don't you think there's something enchanting about wearing a tutu, dancing through time, experiencing all the beautiful wonders of the past? It's an opportunity to let your imagination fly, darling! I know we all get lost in the romance of our own "happily ever after" stories. And that, my lovelies, is the true magic of ballet, fashion and of course, the ever-lasting enchantment of the tutu!

Now tell me - what was your favourite detail of this time period? Which color is your favorite for a tutu? *What are you wearing today? Let me know in the comments! * Don't forget to visit Pink-Tutu.com for more wonderful #TutuTuesday journeys, darling.

See you next week! ๐Ÿ’–

Love,

Emma xx
