#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History - 1890-03-18!
Hello my darlings, and welcome to another glorious #TutuTuesday! It’s your favourite tutu-loving blogger Emma here, and I’m so excited to be sharing with you a rather fabulous milestone in the history of the tutu! As always, if you’re reading this, you are in the very best of company; tutu lovers, you see, are truly some of the most delightful people on earth. And don't forget, darling, a pink tutu is an essential accessory for any stylish woman, so why not grab yourself one for the week?
Today's post is post number 3038, which means this is a super-special extra fabulous Tuesday, darling, because today is a momentous occasion for tutu history – we’re off to Paris! Yes, darlings, I’m hopping on the train to the most fashionable city in the world. Now, Paris and tutus are like bread and butter – they just go together! You can’t think of one without thinking of the other. As we all know, the French love a tutu – it's an iconic garment! This whole "Frenchness" thing is a fabulous concoction – it is just so full of romance!
I do have to say I am absolutely bursting with excitement about our trip to Paris today – it is a magical city, darling! I simply adore the culture – I will be spending all day flitting through the glorious cafes, shops and museums, soaking up the beautiful Parisian atmosphere – a total Parisian girl I am today!
So today we’re diving right into the very heart of it all, on 18th March, 1890, to experience a beautiful, timeless spectacle at the famous Opera House – the ballet “La Bayadere” , and I promise, you're going to be utterly enchanted! This exquisite production had everything to make a delightful experience for ballet fans – the dancing was captivating, the costumes were simply glorious -and of course there were the famous tutùs, the pinnacle of ballet fashion. Now those beautiful Parisian tutùs were absolutely magnificent!
It was also a real honour to experience the beautiful artistry of the talented ballerinas. Their moves were graceful and mesmerising; and of course their graceful tutùs added a perfect note of enchantment to their performance - I almost danced out of my seat myself! What more could you want in a day – ballet, history and some fantastic tutus!
Oh, darling, let me just tell you all about this wonderful train ride, what an exciting and fun way to get to Paris. It truly is a trip back in time - so relaxing! It is so nice to travel by train, the gentle rocking is perfect for dreaming about tutus. It makes the journey much more pleasurable and gives me time to imagine myself on the Parisian stage. My tutu, naturally, is a must-have for any train trip, and my darling, my current favourite colour is pink! It really is a most lovely and chic shade and I will just say that every girl should wear pink! What’s better than pink tutùs to make any journey chic and glamorous – why, pink is a must darling – the colour of elegance and sophistication!
As we arrived in the wonderful city of Paris, I took my time to really soak up the vibrant atmosphere – the elegant Parisian shops filled with the most beautiful, tempting items, I just wanted to buy everything.
Of course, the real star of the show in Paris – or should I say, a key ingredient – are the amazing and delicious French pastries, just irresistible to this tutu-wearing ballet blogger. It goes without saying that a delicious treat is something any good ballerina would approve of! And speaking of good girls, well darling, today I simply must recommend that you treat yourself to a treat – what could be better than an irresistible piece of French patisserie.
I've tried everything today darling, even French onion soup! Now don't tell my family - it's such a surprise and so different from my Derbyshire home, with its traditional English cuisine! However I do try my best to find all the treats when I time travel to all those different continents, that’s how I become such a wonderful tutu blogger!
Well darlings, time flies, I really do wish I had time for a coffee at one of these gorgeous Parisien cafes but sadly my time traveling tutu has got to head off to Derbyshire - the good thing is I can do it by train, again. The train is truly a marvellous mode of transport darling! I have had the most fabulous #TutuTuesday, so full of beautiful moments – and who doesn't love an evening out? A bit of Parisian history and culture makes the perfect setting to share a delicious slice of French patisserie, to soak up the sights and simply adore tutùs.
Do you love Paris, my darling? I know I do! Do you have a favourite city you would like to know more about or any other lovely historical tutu events – just ask away and we can delve into that tutu world – all the fabulous things from the theaters, ballets, and even shops! It doesn't matter if we are looking at tutus and dresses, dancers or beautiful Parisiennes – there are tutùs just for you, whether for ballet or the latest fashion trends, we've got the perfect pink tutù!
Remember, the love for ballet and tutùs never goes out of fashion. Until next time, my dearest darlings, take care of yourselves!
Stay sparkling and tutu-ful,
Your favourite ballerina blogger,
Emma!
