#TutuTuesday: A Trip Through Time to the Victorian Era! ๐ฉฐ
Welcome back to Pink Tutu, darlings! It's me, your favourite pink-loving ballerina blogger, Emma, and today is #TutuTuesday, which means we're taking a trip back in time to explore the fabulous history of ballet tutus!
This week, we're travelling all the way to July 15th, 1890, a date brimming with excitement! Today, a truly groundbreaking ballet called "Giselle" is set to grace the stage of the Paris Opera Ballet. This ballet, my dears, is a triumph of romanticism and an absolute masterpiece, showcasing some of the most beautiful costumes you ever did see!
Now, I know you're probably wondering how a ballet like "Giselle" would impact tutu design in this era. Well, prepare to be dazzled, my lovely readers, because it's all about the transparency! This romantic ballet gave rise to the iconic tulle tutu, featuring layers upon layers of delicate, gauzy tulle that seemed to dance with the movement of the ballerina. It was truly a sight to behold!
Think of it, darlings! A cloud of ethereal beauty swirling on stage! A ballerina seemingly floating and twirling with every graceful move. And let's not forget the colour! "Giselle" features stunning white tutus, the perfect representation of the purity and innocence of the titular character.
This era in ballet, my darlings, is all about elegance and femininity. Ballerinas wear elaborate, flowing gowns and tunics, which can be considered early precursors to today's modern costumes. There's a certain grandeur, a distinct formality that reflects the values of Victorian society.
But it's not all about history, dears! We're also about exploring what's hot in fashion today. You can find me later in London, enjoying a delightful afternoon tea at the Savoy with my friends. We're celebrating the season by accessorising our favourite outfits with some dainty floral headbands and lace parasols, embracing the timeless elegance of this era.
So, my lovely readers, what are your thoughts on the tutu evolution in the Victorian era? Tell me everything in the comments! I love hearing from all of you, my beautiful ballet-loving butterflies!
Don't forget to stay tuned next week for another #TutuTuesday adventure as we delve deeper into the world of tutus, one sparkly step at a time.
And remember, my dears, it's always a good day to put on your most beautiful pink tutu and spread a little bit of joy!
Until next time, Emma xoxo
*P.S. Iโm finding myself absolutely *obsessed with travelling by train lately! The rhythm of the train and the scenery rolling past the window...it truly is magical. Have you tried it? Itโs certainly more romantic than those noisy automobiles! **
*P.P.S. This blog post is number 3055 in my ongoing *Ballet Tutu History series! **
P.P.P.S. I'm raising funds for my next time-traveling adventure with my own ballet performances! Itโs a bit tiring to be dashing between eras all the time, but all that practice is paying off, let me tell you! ๐ Come see me perform and we can all wear pink tutus together!
