#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History: September 29th, 1896

Post Number 3379: From Derbyshire with Love!

Hello my dearest tutu-loving friends! It's Emma, your resident pink tutu-wearing time traveller, back with another dose of ballet history for your #TutuTuesday!

As Iā€™m writing this, Iā€™m standing in the beautiful, buzzing city of Paris. Ooh la la, isnā€™t it fabulous?! Can you believe we're travelling back in time to 1896 today? My, oh my, this city is a haven for fashion! Even back then, Parisians knew how to dress, and tutus, my dears, are taking the world by storm!

Oh, before I go any further, let's talk about this beautiful pink tutu I'm wearing! I had to find something special for Paris, and I think youā€™ll agree it fits in perfectly with this dazzling city! This little number is made from a light and airy pink tulle with silk satin ribbons, and, I can't leave out this, it even has little matching pink silk flowers to add a touch of whimsy! Youā€™d be surprised at the great vintage pieces you can find when travelling through time! It's important to always support sustainable fashion - a sentiment that applies regardless of the era!

Now back to history! September 29th, 1896, oh what a time to be alive! In the world of ballet, this date brings us face-to-face with a real treasure - The ā€œPas de Quatreā€ a ballet first performed in London in 1845 but recreated this month. This enchanting work featuring four of the most famous ballerinas of the time - Marie Taglioni, Carlotta Grisi, Lucile Grahn, and Fanny Cerrito - is a truly captivating masterpiece. You could imagine the absolute glamour of it all! Such elegance, grace, and artistry. Can you picture the audiences enraptured, watching these extraordinary dancers whirl across the stage?

Speaking of Paris, itā€™s also the heart of theatre! Every performance in Paris, from opera to ballet, is a captivating whirlwind of extravagant costumes and fascinating stories! Can you imagine having the chance to attend one of these performances? Oh, Iā€™ve been thinking about my next show in the OpĆ©ra Garnier. Have you ever seen it? The interiors, oh they're like something out of a dream! My eyes just couldn't handle so much beautiful dĆ©cor and fine detailing - and those gold leaf finishes are simply divine! Itā€™s truly a sight to behold! And those ornate chandeliers... I just canā€™t imagine trying to clean them!

Speaking of seeing a show, this weekend I caught the latest performance at the OpĆ©ra Garnier and the production of ā€œGiselleā€ was so breathtaking! Even after all these years, the passion and story behind Giselle is just magical, truly moving! Just picture it, a ballet story woven with ethereal beauty and an enduring message of love. Even in this era, "Giselle" takes audiences on a captivating journey of human emotion!
