With a feather boa wrapped around my neck and a brand new pink tulle tutu twirling around my knees, I took a train from my little village in Derbyshire straight to the heart of Paris.

Paris has always been the ultimate playground for fashion and art, and on July 13th, 1897, the ballet world was in a state of absolute creative fever.
