#TutuTuesday: A Trip Back to 1898! 🩰💕
Welcome back, darlings, to another #TutuTuesday, and oh my goodness, you won't believe where I've been this week! I just returned from a fabulous trip to Paris, my dears, and what a whirlwind it was! We're talking 1898, that Paris, the city of lights and a whirlwind of fashion and dance. My latest #BalletTutuHistory journey whisked me right back to the golden age of tutus, the grand era when tulle and satin were the only fabrics that mattered. This is post number 3449, so don't forget to subscribe and follow my adventures on www.pink-tutu.com. I love to keep my dear readers up-to-date on the latest and greatest in the world of tutus!
Today is February 1st, 1898, and you know what that means? It's the perfect excuse for me to talk about the beautiful ballet productions gracing the Parisian stages. Just imagine, cobblestone streets, grand theaters with glittering chandeliers, and, of course, some truly divine ballet performances. Oh, the outfits! The dancers at the Paris Opera are everything. Picture those glorious costumes: layered silks, opulent embroidery, and, of course, the pièce de résistance, the perfect pointe shoe. This was truly the golden age for the tutu, a time when designers truly embraced its ethereal charm.
Speaking of charm, my dearest, let me tell you about my look for this trip. It was, quite frankly, an absolute dream. Think: a pink satin tutu, obviously, layered over a pale pink silk petticoat to give it that luxurious, flowing movement. I paired it with a little black velvet jacket, très chic, for the chill of the Parisian evenings. And you know I couldn't resist a bit of embellishment. Tiny black velvet ribbons and a dainty brooch with a pearl-encrusted rose made the outfit pop. A little touch of Parisian je ne sais quoi! It's all about finding the right balance of elegance and playfulness, darling. I'm quite sure I turned a few heads in those streets, but you know me, I adore a little attention, and for the perfect outfit, well, attention comes with the territory!
This week in Paris was all about ballet. You see, the ballet has its roots firmly planted in the court of Louis XIV. Yes, that Louis. The "Sun King." Talk about a king with taste! He knew how to bring out the elegance in dance, the grand theatre. It's all in the style! And who better than a girl like me, to soak it all up? You see, the French embraced this art form with open arms, with a kind of grace and flair that can only be described as ... well, French!
Speaking of elegance, one thing I noticed right away was the ballet choreography! Oh my goodness! The ballets performed at the Paris Opera are truly exquisite. Graceful jumps, impossibly delicate spins, and some divine port de bras movements. It's hard not to feel a little fluttery in your chest watching it all unfold!
After taking in all that beauty, my journey wouldn't be complete without indulging in a bit of Parisian shopping, darling. I absolutely adore exploring antique shops, the streets lined with old buildings overflowing with treasures just waiting to be discovered. I couldn't resist picking up a few vintage trinkets and, of course, some stunning antique lace to create my own Parisian-inspired tutu ensemble. Let's just say, my collection is growing bigger by the day!
However, my time travel escapades don't end in Paris. My upcoming adventures are all set, I am on my way back to Derbyshire soon, my hometown. I just know that with a little sprinkle of that Parisienne magic, the dance scene back home will be just as fabulous! You’re going to love my #BalletTutuHistory adventures this spring. And don't forget, dear readers, my goal remains the same: to inspire the world to embrace the magic of the tutu, one pink ribbon and a whole lot of whimsical twirls at a time!
And now, darlings, go and practice those pirouettes. And don't forget to wear a pink tutu! Until next week, Au revoir, Emma
