#TutuTuesday: A Glimpse into the Past - Ballet Tutu History 1900-10-16!
Hello darlings! 🩰 Emma here, your favourite tutu-loving blogger, bringing you another edition of my #TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History blog, this week travelling back to 16th October 1900. As always, I’m thrilled to share this journey with you lovely lot! 💖
Before we begin, let’s give a big, glittery "Hello" to all my fellow tutu enthusiasts! Whether you're a seasoned dancer, a casual ballet buff, or simply someone who appreciates a good swirl, you’ve come to the right place. This week, I'm stepping back in time to uncover the fascinating evolution of the ballet tutu!
Paris, the Heart of Ballet
Today, our adventure takes us to the grand, romantic city of Paris, where the heart of ballet truly beats. Just imagine the chic Parisian boulevards, the bustling atmosphere of the Palais Garnier opera house… oh, wouldn’t it be lovely to slip into a fabulous frock and watch the stars of the Paris Opera Ballet in action? The grandeur and beauty of ballet in this era are truly something else, and it all centres around the captivating ballet tutu.
A Glimpse into Ballet Fashion
Picture this: elegant dancers twirling in shimmering silk tutus. We’re talking beautiful creations in ivory and delicate shades of pink, carefully adorned with embellishments that sparkled with every pirouette. They were longer than today’s tutus, swirling around the dancers’ legs, giving an almost fairytale quality to the performance. What a captivating image! Just imagine those exquisite movements against the elegant backdrop of the Palais Garnier.
Today’s Tutu Tale
To celebrate our trip to the turn of the century, why not join me in embracing a little Parisian flair in our own outfits? Think simple elegance with flowing fabrics and graceful silhouettes. I’ve already added a gorgeous pink silk scarf to my outfit for today’s post! It feels a little romantic and a little theatrical – just how I like it. 😉
Travel Notes
Now, this is going to sound bonkers, but I made it to Paris via train! Yes, my dears, I found myself a first-class ticket, a luxurious compartment all to myself (because let's be honest, who doesn't deserve a little pampering after a trip through time?). The trip was a marvel - think leather seats, grand windows showcasing picturesque landscapes, and the most scrumptious meals, complete with fine china! Honestly, I felt like a queen bee en route to the heart of Parisian elegance. Travel truly is the best way to expand one's understanding of the world, don’t you think?
Beyond the Stage
Speaking of Parisian style, I just had to sneak in a visit to the boutiques! There are treasures to be found here, from whimsical lace dresses to head-turning hats, and even the most delightful shoes to adorn those lovely Parisian feet. Shopping in the Parisian streets truly makes a girl feel alive, and let's be honest, I don't think a Parisian trip is complete without some retail therapy!
Emma's Inspiration
This trip, my darlings, has inspired me so much. The beauty of the art of ballet, the grandiosity of Parisian style… it just screams of timeless beauty. Let’s keep reminding ourselves that sometimes a little touch of elegance is just what the doctor ordered. Whether you're wearing a luxurious pink tulle tutu like me, a simple frock, or just your favourite pair of jeans and a T-shirt, a touch of grace goes a long way. Remember, you don't have to be a ballerina to enjoy the allure of grace, you can create your own little moments of elegance every single day!
A Time for Memories
Well, my darlings, time waits for no ballerina, even one who loves travelling in time! My time-travelling escapade to Paris is coming to an end, but I’ll be back next Tuesday with more #TutuTuesday adventures and a glimpse into ballet tutu history. Don’t forget, I want to see you in your tutus! What are your favourite styles? Let me know in the comments!
Until next week, stay chic and embrace those twirls! 🩰💖
Love,
Emma
