#TutuTuesday: A Trip Back to 1908 - When the Tutu was King! 👑🩰

Hello, darling darlings! It's Emma here, your favourite pink-tutu-wearing, time-traveling, ballerina blogger! I hope this post finds you all twirling and turning with a smile! 🥰

It's Tuesday, which means it's time for our weekly trip down the whimsical world of ballet history. Today's #TutuTuesday is a real doozy! We're heading all the way back to January 7th, 1908, and believe me, you'll want to take a trip back in time for this one!

Oh, and a big Welcome to any new readers! This is post number 3967 for my little pink tutu empire over at www.pink-tutu.com. I've been blogging about ballet fashion, history, and the absolute glory of tutus for what feels like a lifetime (and probably has been!), but it's a life I wouldn't trade for anything!

So, how did we arrive at the year 1908, you ask? Well, you see, I travel back through time courtesy of some seriously fancy ballet performances! Think lavish productions, sparkling costumes, and enough shimmering tutus to dazzle a thousand stars! It's a tough job, darling, but someone has to do it! 🩰

Fashionable Frocks and the "Parisian Belle"

And this week's trip finds us in Paris, the heart of everything fashionable. We’re not just talking about the latest trends (although, let me tell you, the 1908 Parisian fashions are positively divine), but ballet is at the very forefront of style! The iconic "Parisian Belle" silhouette was a big hit – think flowing gowns with accentuated waists and daringly revealing décolletage. It's just what I love to see!

Speaking of revealing décolletage… 1908 was a time when tutus were a touch different than the frothy marvels we see today. The "tutu" as we know it was really just getting its start! These beauties were still long, but they were less layered and less, erm, revealing, shall we say. Ahem! They did, however, emphasize those darling long legs, which just calls for some twirling, don’t you think? 💃

Fun Fact: 1908 saw the arrival of some fabulous innovation in dance: Serge Diaghilev and his Ballet Russes, a group of world-class dancers, had just made a grand entrance onto the Parisian stage! Can you imagine, darling, the level of artistry and spectacle they brought! Talk about a tutu explosion! 🤩

The Ballet of Dreams!

Just the thought of being in Paris during that time is enough to send me into a dreamy swoon! Imagine yourself strolling through the grand salons of Paris, your eyes sparkling as you take in the beauty and grace of the ballet.

What was going on at the theatre that day? I’m going to look into it and maybe next week I’ll write all about the shows of 1908, what do you think? Let me know!

My life as a ballerina, a blogger, and a time traveler wouldn't be complete without exploring these captivating eras in history. After all, every story has a dance to tell.

Until next time, darling! Remember, if you feel the call of a beautiful dance, don't just listen - answer it! ✨

Time to Step out of My Tutu for a Moment

Now, I know that you're all eager to know about this amazing time period. What's better than a ballet, though? Ballet with a side of fun! 😄 So, tell me, darling, what's your favorite ballet performance of all time? And if you had a time machine, what ballet era would you go back to visit? I would love to hear from you in the comments below! 💕

I can't wait to hear all your amazing stories! And don't forget to keep twirling and dreaming!

Sending you a thousand twirling kisses,

Emma
