Tutu Tuesday: #4021 - A Peek into the Past: 1909-01-19!
Hello my darling Tutu Twirlers! Welcome to another week of exploring the world of the tutu! It's me, Emma, your bubbly ballerina blogger, fresh from another fabulous adventure through time! I'm here, as always, to sprinkle some tutu-tastic sparkle into your day!
Today, my journey through the ages has led me to a rather special date: 1909-01-19! Itâs so exciting to dip into the past like this. Remember that delightful book âAliceâs Adventures in Wonderlandâ? Just like her, I canât help but wonder if things were a little âcuriouserâ in those days!
So, pack your dance shoes and dust off your favourite pink tutu, darling. We're embarking on a time-hopping tour! Today, I'm headed to Paris, the city that never sleeps - especially when it comes to fashion! And it just happens to be a mecca for ballet in 1909! Did you know that the year 1909 is actually brimming with tutu-liciousness?
Oh my goodness, you wouldn't believe the excitement surrounding the Paris Opera! It's like a constant whirl of feathers, silks and elegant whispers! They're showing off their stunning "La Peri," a dazzling piece by the acclaimed Louis-Ferdinand Elbe. I simply must see it - those dazzling costumes, the captivating storylineâŚitâs just begging to be documented on this little pink-tutu-loving blog of mine.
This date is all about elegant moves, breathtaking performances and of course, tutues. As always, the ballet world was awash with romanticism and artistry. Imagine: ballerinas twirling with delicate lightness in frothy white tulle - it's simply bewitching.
Speaking of ballet, how utterly fabulous is it to live in an age where the tutus were designed by the master of design, Monsieur Paul Poiret! You know I simply have to get my hands on a piece of history from those glorious fashion houses. A lovely tulle dress from that time? Simply divine!
One of my most favourite things about stepping into the past, is how differently they lived their lives then, you know, how it makes me truly appreciate how lucky we are today! No electricity meant candlelit dinner parties and a slower pace to life in general. That means, even the dancers took their time when they were travelling on train journeys - just imagine a leisurely train ride through beautiful countryside! That's pure relaxation! Itâs nothing like those stressful London Underground journeys⌠Oh! This time travel adventure thing is making me appreciate my comfy train commute even more. And of course, the fact that it doesn't require me to wear a massive and quite frankly, uncomfortable bustle. You would not catch me with a bustle! Thank heavens for modern clothes. You can trust me to tell you that 1909 was very much a âbigger is betterâ age when it came to clothes - with big skirts, massive sleeves and, naturally, giant hats! All so elegant, of course.
Letâs be real, I just couldnât go back to those times⌠After all, what would my gorgeous tutu do? Even back then, a ballerina wouldn't be caught dead on stage without their tutu, and who wouldn't want to see the captivating grace of dancers twirling under the elegant chandeliers? Letâs give a hearty âWell done!â to the pioneers who were out there doing their tutu-rific best to make ballet what it is today. The more time I spend jumping about in my tutu, the more I realise how we should cherish those who built the path that allows us to twirl freely! The sheer passion of these incredible dancers gives me butterflies! If there's one thing I wish we could bring from 1909 into the 21st century, it would be the romance of it all, wouldnât it? They took such care with every detail, every interaction, every elegant gesture - every little thing.
What an inspiring date, eh? Remember, I update the blog each Tuesday. My mission - to inspire the world to embrace the tutu - never stops! If you have any fascinating bits of history youâd like me to explore next, leave a comment and letâs do a time travel dance together. I love your messages - it makes it feel like weâre all on this grand pink-tutu adventure together.
See you next week, lovelies!
