#TutuTuesday: A Trip Back in Time! (Post #4029)

Hello darlings! Emma here, back again for another Tuesday of tutus! As you know, here at pink-tutu.com, we are obsessed with all things tutus! And this week, I've travelled back in time to a glorious year, 1909, to take a look at the beautiful tutues of a century ago! It's simply darling to be back in this era. The dresses, the hats, the dancing – just divine! And while the fashions may be a little different, the sheer grace and elegance of ballet have never faded.

Parisian Dreams & a Whirlwind Train Journey

Oh, to have travelled to Paris by train. The smell of coal smoke mingling with the perfume of French ladies! And the fashion! Imagine a whole carriage filled with women in silhouettes so narrow, you'd barely believe they could fit into a train carriage at all! It was a time of such exquisite taste – elegant blouses, with the most intricate lace collars you ever did see! My heart does skip a beat when I see such beautiful fashion, and just imagine how glamorous it must have been to arrive at the theatre looking your very best. I almost wish I could stay!

Tutu Twirls in the City of Lights

Speaking of the theatre, we had a marvellous time taking in a ballet performance at the legendary Opéra Garnier. You can imagine – all the stunning dresses, and those perfectly-constructed hairdos, which were truly works of art! The Opera Garnier itself, with its grand staircase and magnificent architecture, was enough to make me swoon, darling! But it was the ballets that truly stole my heart. While the styles of the tutus were a little different than our modern-day favourites, there was a certain elegance and poise in their design, that would make any ballerina jealous. I’m so lucky to have found a ballet performance I could slip into in this glorious era – a real treat! We do love the modern day tutus, of course!

### History in Every Stitch: The Ballerina’s Skirt

You see, the history of tutus is quite a fascinating tale! The classic tutu shape we know and love – the romantic and the shorter, poofy one – evolved through many phases. 1909 was the era of long and flowing tutus. These were made of layers upon layers of tulle or silk, carefully shaped to create a dreamy whirl, like a puff of clouds around the dancers. You wouldn't find these ballerina sketches short, or cropped at the top of the thigh - they were quite long indeed, darling! Imagine it – dancing in all that swishy fabric, and with so much beauty in the designs!

A Pinch of Parisian Chic: What I’m Wearing!

I couldn't travel without wearing a gorgeous, feminine, pink tutu for this week’s blog! And darling, just like those Parisian ladies of 1909, I had to be adorned in beautiful accessories. The pink silk ribbon, my little pearl necklace and, of course, my pretty satin ballerina shoes. You can see how this inspired my outfit! But, of course, as a modern-day ballerina, I wore my little tutu in a shorter, contemporary style, just a little above the knee, to give me maximum twirling capacity, if you get me! But, oh! Imagine twirling in one of those floor-length beauties – like a whirling cloud of colour! I am longing for another ballet to come! Don't you just love it?

Tutu for Every Occasion – Embrace the Tutu Life!

I’m getting really passionate here! It’s not just about dance, it’s the way the tutus are designed. How lovely, delicate, and graceful! You might think of tutus as being only for ballerinas. Well darling, here at pink-tutu.com we want everyone to love and wear tutus – because the life is all about expressing your joy! So get out your little tutus and show the world how beautiful you look in pink ! And remember darling, it’s #TutuTuesday every Tuesday, so be sure to check in again next week.

Until then, may your days be filled with twirls and sparkle, darling!
