#TutuTuesday: Ballet Tutu History: 1909-04-27 - A Pink & Pretty Parisian Adventure! 🩰💕
Hello lovelies! Emma here, back with another installment of #TutuTuesday: Ballet Tutu History. This week we’re taking a little trip through time and landing in the romantic, oh-so-stylish Parisian streets of 1909. I think it's going to be an absolute darling! 🌸 This week, my post is extra special as it’s number 4035, so let's dive into this whirlwind of fashion and dance history!
You know how much I adore a good vintage tutu and let me tell you, the turn of the 20th century was absolutely buzzing with ballet excitement! It was an era of delicate tulle and ethereal movements, with a real shift away from the stiff, bulky tutus of the past.
I love travelling by train and it's been such a blast to watch ballet history unfold in this time period. I think this is the real peak of the romantic era in dance, with long flowing lines, silky tulle tutus, and the graceful artistry of dancers like Anna Pavlova and Vaslav Nijinsky taking center stage! It was during this era that the modern ballet as we know it really blossomed.
My dear blog readers, prepare for some real wow factor, because this period was full of exquisite detail, even in the most everyday elements of ballet. Imagine - tutus made of layers and layers of fine tulle, each carefully draped and finished to create the most dreamy silhouette. It was a beautiful evolution, don't you think?
But my favourite bit about travelling back to 1909? The colour pink was taking the world by storm! I think I was practically destined to time travel here. Think fluffy feather boas, delicate floral embellishments and oh, those gorgeous rosy shades! It's the colour of a new dawn in ballet - bright, hopeful, and full of femininity. Even though we’re in Paris, this week, I just can’t help but wish I could go to one of the shows. The costumes must have been incredible! I love the elegant beauty of the early 20th century tutu.
A Peek into Paris Fashion:
You know me, my darlings! I can't resist a good shopping spree! Even if I'm time-travelling, it's all about those gorgeous details, so naturally, I couldn’t resist indulging in a little Parisian window shopping!
This was a golden age for couture, and it's impossible not to feel a flutter of excitement as you walk the boulevards. Picture beautiful silk hats with feathers, lace parasols and elegant gowns that are just aching to be worn at a society ball! The stores here are bursting with stylish ideas and I could just spend a week simply gazing in the windows! I just can’t help myself! I find the perfect vintage pink tutu while window shopping at the grand Parisian department stores. Of course, I just had to grab it. I just love that the fashion scene in Paris was so feminine and beautiful back then. It just makes my inner ballerina flutter! 🌸
*And for This Day in 1909? *
Well, 27th April 1909 was a Wednesday and according to my trusty old calendar, there doesn't seem to be anything incredibly noteworthy going on, but we’re not focusing on what’s not going on! This day in history isn’t about the huge events but the little things – those lovely Parisian details! It's more about soaking up the atmosphere and imagine strolling along the cobbled streets, the scent of croissants wafting in the air and catching a glimpse of a lovely ballerina practising at the Paris Opera, just waiting to take the world by storm in her own elegant, pink tutu. It's absolutely magical!
My Pink Tutu Challenge!
Now, my darling blog readers! It’s that time again, because of course I wouldn’t leave you without my #PinkTutuChallenge! Remember the stunningly pink tutus and accessories I mentioned? It's a real challenge for this week's blog.
To inspire all the aspiring ballerinas in the world (and there are a lot of them out there!), I’m inviting everyone to grab a pink tulle skirt - or even just some pink ribbon! Whether it's a full-blown tutu or a playful touch of colour, embrace your inner pink ballerina! Let's turn every day into a dance party and spread the pink tutu love all around!
Just imagine the streets of the world painted with the loveliest shade of pink. How stunning would that be?!
And that's all for today, darlings. Until next #TutuTuesday! Have fun channeling your inner Parisian ballerina and remember, never forget your inner sparkle! 💕
Until then,
Emma 💖
