Tutu Tuesday: #4137 - The Rise of the Romantic Tutu

Hello my lovelies, it's Emma here from the lovely, pink-filled world of pink-tutu.com, and oh my goodness, it's time to dust off our feather boas, pop on our sparkling tiaras, and grab a dainty cup of tea! โ˜• This week, we're stepping back in time, boarding the Orient Express ๐Ÿš‚ (because who doesn't love a good train journey?), and venturing to the dazzling world of Paris, 1911!

A New Era for Ballet

Let's be honest, dear reader, we're all here for a touch of glamour, and let me tell you, Parisian ballet in 1911 was overflowing with it! Think flamboyant, opulent, extravagant... and most importantly, pretty pink tutus ! ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–

As we celebrate #TutuTuesday today, it's impossible not to be captivated by this era's romantically beautiful ballet costumes. Those iconic flowing tutus, they truly were a masterpiece of design, made of delicate tulle, beautifully hand-stitched with a hundred layers to create that billowing, ethereal look! They float as the dancers move, like delicate feathers, absolutely breathtaking! The most fashionable ballerinas at the time loved to add in a pinch of drama, adding feather boas, jewelled headdresses and sparkling shoes to give an even more glamorous look - just heavenly!

Ballet's Queen Bee: Anna Pavlova

Now, let's talk about one of ballet's absolute icons: Anna Pavlova . What a dancer, and her dedication to tutus was pure artistry! ๐Ÿ˜ Think graceful leaps and impossibly elegant poses, all showcased in exquisite costumes, both on the stage and during rehearsals - she always insisted on wearing them everywhere! Her signature pink, a very important color to this pink-loving blogger, was her lucky charm and we can clearly see how this era embraced her bold choice.

This Day In History

Let's look at this day, 11th of April, 1911. In this very special Parisian date, the world is witnessing the groundbreaking, revolutionary ballet called "Scheherazade" choreographed by the remarkable Michel Fokine! ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ•บ This ballet was, without a doubt, the most talked-about production. Imagine beautiful, whimsical and colourful tutus twirling onstage, and wait for it... even some *trousers are making an appearance. ๐Ÿคฏ ๐Ÿ˜ฑ It's not your everyday ballet, darlings, trust me! They pushed the boundaries with this one, making quite the stir in the ballet world.

Travel to The Theatre

Speaking of boundaries being pushed... Did you know, ladies, that I even caught a glimpse of my darling Anna Pavlova wearing the most fabulous pink tulle tutu on a Parisian street this very week! ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’– ๐Ÿ’– She's quite the fashion icon, don't you agree?
This week's blog wouldn't be complete without a reminder of what to wear! You can't go wrong with lace and tulle, dear friends, all adorned in our favourite pink. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Be bold, wear your heart on your sleeve (or maybe your tutu!), and dare to be a little extra!

This brings our Tutu Tuesday journey to a close, dear reader, until next week, where we'll be exploring another amazing moment in ballet history! Until then, do let me know if you're going to any performances, and tell me all about it in the comments below!

Now, go on and embrace those elegant twirls and never be afraid to express your Inner Ballerina - remember, you're absolutely fantastic!

Always Pink,

Emma
