#TutuTuesday: A Whirl Through Time - 1911-05-30!
Hello my darling tutu-loving lovelies! It's your favourite pink-clad time travelling ballerina, Emma, here with another #TutuTuesday post from my latest jaunt through history. Today, we're dancing our way back to the glorious year 1911! Can you imagine, tutus were still pretty much a revolutionary concept back then! ๐ฉฐ
Oh, but before I launch into the exciting story of how tutus were changing the world, I just have to tell you about my fabulous train journey. It was simply divine! Imagine, a compartment with plush velvet seats, delicate floral wallpaper, and enough space to twirl in my pink tutu without bumping into anyone. The carriages were full of elegant ladies with silk dresses and hats perched atop their stylishly coiffed hair, while their dapper gentlemen companions chuckled merrily. Truly the height of glamour! โจ
Now, where were we? Ah yes, May 30th, 1911! In Paris, which was - and still is! - the epicentre of dance, the Diaghilev Ballets Russes were absolutely electrifying the Parisian stage with their performances. Imagine Anna Pavlova, with her graceful swan movements, taking the world by storm! Her elegance, the breathtaking artistry, and the sheer drama of it all... I'm certain those performances left audiences in awe! ๐คฉ
You might wonder, what were the tutus like in those days? Well, my lovelies, it's a fascinating story! Tutus were definitely evolving at this time. Think of a shorter skirt than we know today, still beautifully ruffled and tiered, but with a more practical design for dancers who had to really move on stage! Think less 'fairytale princess' and more 'agile goddess', darling! ๐
You see, 1911 was a time of change in ballet. This era brought us new ideas, fresh choreography, and a more dynamic approach to the art form. So while the tutu's shape might have been slightly different, the spirit of elegance and the desire to create beautiful movements remained the same, a spirit I, dear reader, find oh-so-inspiring! ๐ฅฐ
You know, it really makes me think that tutus are not just a garment, but a symbol of this desire for movement, expression, and, of course, for showing off your gorgeous style. That's why I'm still on my quest, my dear friends! I'm determined to get everyone wearing a pink tutu โ at least once! ๐ After all, who wouldn't feel a little bit of magic when twirling in a beautiful, billowing tutu?
Until next time, my darlings! Do tell me, have you ever dreamt of dancing in a tutu? Let me know in the comments! ๐
Love, Emma
