#TutuTuesday: A Trip Back to 1911! (Post #4157)

Hello lovelies! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad time traveller, Emma, back with another thrilling trip through Ballet Tutu History! Buckle up, my dears, because today we're taking a delightful train ride to 29th August 1911!

Now, I know what you're thinking - 1911? That seems like an awfully long time ago! But just imagine: no social media, no iPhones, just the excitement of a new century dawning. And you know what else? Tutues were already taking the world by storm!

This week, we're headed to none other than the Royal Opera House in London! Oh, darling, this iconic building is where all the excitement is happening! Itā€™s brimming with grand performances, stylish socialites, and of course, the most elegant tutus imaginable.

Now, before I gush about the glorious fashions, letā€™s talk about whatā€™s on the calendar for this date: The Royal Opera House is featuring the masterpiece by Sergei Rachmaninoff, ā€œThe Isle of the Deadā€. Oh, the music! Absolutely thrilling, with the haunting beauty of the orchestra swirling around you! I bet the ballerinas danced like ethereal nymphs, gliding across the stage in stunning tutus that matched the intensity of the performance.

But, letā€™s not forget the main event: The TUTU! In 1911, tutus were already evolving! Think longer, flowing lines with an ethereal, graceful silhouette that simply captivated the imagination. These tutus weren't just costumes - they were statements, bold expressions of femininity and artistry. Imagine the sheer romance, my dears, of layers of tulle shimmering under the stage lights!

Can't you just picture yourself in the crowd, dressed in a stylish frock, and a charming feathered hat, ready to admire the dazzling display of tutus on stage? It was an era when dressing up was an art form in itself! Thereā€™s just something so wonderful about a time when the only pressure was to look absolutely divine at the opera house!

Donā€™t you just love how the history of the tutu reflects the fashions of its time? Think of the romanticism of the Victorian era translated into exquisite, soft tulle tutus! Just the sight of those airy, flowing tutus swirling across the stage could leave anyone in a complete trance!

Now, I know youā€™re all wanting to know where I got my outfit today, right? I canā€™t tell you exactly where I purchased it from in 1911, of course! But, I assure you, this pink tutu is a timeless creation. You could practically imagine seeing a lovely ballet dancer twirling on stage in it right this minute, wouldnā€™t you? The sheer delight of a little tulle - oh, itā€™s simply irresistible!

I hope this weekā€™s #TutuTuesday post has inspired you to imagine the sheer beauty of those early days of tutus! It really puts the spotlight on the timeless elegance of these creations! Remember to share your #TutuTuesday snaps with us on Instagram and letā€™s spread the pink tutu love around the globe!

Until next week, keep those tutus twirling!
Love,

Emma xx
