Tutu Tuesday: A Glimpse into the Whimsical World of 1913! 🩰✨

Welcome back to Pink Tutu, darlings! It’s me, your favourite tutu-tastic time traveller, Emma! Today, we're venturing back to October 7th, 1913 – the very day that set the world of ballet aflame with a whirlwind of artistry and romance!

But before we embark on our time-travelling adventure, don't forget to subscribe to my blog! I'm on a mission to inspire the world to embrace the magic of tutus! And you'll get the latest updates on everything pink and twirly! 💖

This week, we're on the rails, ladies! Picture this: A journey aboard the luxurious Orient Express. I've been dying to hop on this famed train! We’re zipping across Europe, leaving behind the dreary cobbled streets of London, London, London. You see, my friends, it’s London that truly gets my feathers ruffled when it comes to fashion. So this journey by train, my goodness, it's all about experiencing that “je ne sais quoi”! Just imagine those beautifully embroidered carriage interiors – the perfect setting for a dance of inspiration! ✨

I must tell you about the delightful dress I chose for this expedition. Imagine this – a powder-pink silk dress, gathered at the waist, with a floaty, almost ethereal skirt. A perfectly dainty rose embroidered onto the bodice. Such exquisite craftsmanship! And you know, the thought occurred to me that this whole trip was rather tutu-like! A bit of frivolity and elegance, with just the right touch of…whimsy? Do you ever feel that way about trains? I’ve always believed that they have such romantic possibilities, much like the tutu, itself! The train carries you to a new world, and so does a tutu! 🥰

Speaking of enchanting destinations, today we're in the heart of Paris. It's where I first saw Anna Pavlova dance - the epitome of grace and elegance! Her performances are legendary, darling! You see, today is her day! She's opening at the Opéra Garnier in "The Dying Swan"! Imagine her, the star of the evening, clad in a cloud-like, billowing tutu - a visual feast! That’s a perfect tutu Tuesday in Paris for you!

Now, you may ask, "Emma, what’s special about tutus in this time period?" It's a question many ask, dear friends! You see, the early 20th century saw an explosion of interest in dance and ballerinas. These enchanting garments had evolved into graceful, layered beauties, showcasing an effortless, whimsical form. They're all about celebrating movement! Imagine a dance of pure expression in soft fabrics and captivating colors. I believe there is no other outfit in the world that can quite compare!

Even in these less tutu-centric times, Paris was and still is THE place to find the perfect tutu! Those intricate and delicate fabrics, crafted by hand and adorned with beads – pure luxury. It's an artform, really! Oh, how I love that beautiful Parisian tulle! And the colours, oh darling, the colours! Everything is light and ethereal! There are also delightful new additions! This was also the period of the famous and truly exquisite Russian ballerinas, and my oh my, how their ballet skirts have made waves! Imagine tutus, more vibrant than ever before, featuring sparkling embellishments that add such flair and drama. They're an absolute must for every aspiring ballerina. And they fit the style of Paris wonderfully! 🥰

The 1913 ballet scene is electric! Not only can you enjoy Pavlova, but the iconic "The Rite of Spring" was also given its very first performance in Paris just this year, a truly bold masterpiece of music and dance. The world was witnessing the birth of something special. Now I must tell you - if you can't afford a ticket, darling, then the streets are a visual spectacle, themselves. I just love the spectacle! In fact, if you want to catch me dancing with some other local ballet enthusiasts, you’re more likely to catch us on the streets than at an actual theatre! Paris has the most enchanting streets, and they're like a runway show of beauty! We even have shops where the shop assistant's tutus match their outfits! It’s such an absolute thrill, and just a reminder of how wonderful, lighthearted, and carefree fashion and dance can be!

As I finish writing this post, dear friends, I just want to say how absolutely delighted I am that my #TutuTuesday Blog is really getting off the ground. Just last month we had our first #TutuTuesday selfie on a Tuesday! That means over 50,000 tutu loving bloggers have taken photos with tutus, shared them on Instagram and Facebook, and mentioned their favourite tutu and blog post! My absolute dream is that my blog will inspire all women everywhere, in every town, to embrace a life full of joy, elegance, and a whole lot of pink, of course.

I am looking forward to seeing you next Tuesday, and, of course, I’m so excited to hear what tutu adventures you’ve been having this week! Please leave me a comment about your favourite tutu experience or your most treasured tutu. Also, let me know where you are! My team is making the tutu world map! If I can do something about getting you the perfect pink tutu for your journey or travel, then get in touch. Now, if you’ll excuse me, darling, I think it’s time for me to pick up a few more frocks in Paris. Now that my time travel machine is in top gear I have to rush on my journey, my dears. Just look for me, and the pink tutu, wherever the fashion is in bloom!
