#TutuTuesday: Ballet Tutu History - A Pink-tiful Journey to 1915!

Hello my darlings! It’s Emma here, your tutu-loving time-traveling fashionista, and welcome back to #TutuTuesday! 🩰🌸

This week we're waltzing back to a glamorous era - 1915! Can you imagine, a century ago? 🤯 The world was a very different place, with grand ballrooms, elegant carriages, and, of course, the most breathtaking ballet costumes!

Today, I've hopped aboard my trusty time-traveling train, heading straight for London's Royal Opera House. The very air here crackles with the excitement of the era. This is the heart of the ballet world, where every night is an enchantment, a spectacle of grace and artistry. And you know what? I wouldn't be caught dead in anything but pink! 😉

As you can tell from my favourite colour, I adore femininity! And back in 1915, ballet costumes were simply divine! Think flowing silk, sparkling sequins, and exquisite lace, all swirling around on stage like magic. It was an explosion of colour, so a touch of pink here and there is definitely not amiss, isn’t that right my lovely tutu-lovers?! 💕

Now, back to our fascinating fashion trip. In 1915, the Russian Ballet, led by the legendary Serge Diaghilev, was taking the world by storm. They brought a revolutionary new style of dance - bold, dynamic, and full of emotion. It's the era of Vaslav Nijinsky, Anna Pavlova, and, oh, my dear Tchaikovsky's magical scores, simply a delight!

Of course, these groundbreaking performances demanded equally spectacular costumes. Enter Leon Bakst! A visionary artist who designed boldly colourful costumes for the Ballet Russe. Imagine vibrant patterns, rich textures, and just the right amount of PINK accents. Just gorgeous!

This week, I’m especially smitten with Bakst's costume designs for Scheherazade. * 🤯 Think shimmering silks, sumptuous jewels, and just a sprinkle of that *PINK MAGIC. The story is about the seductive Queen of Arabia, and the costume evokes such mystery and glamour! It was a sensation back in 1915 and continues to mesmerize even today.

As I mentioned before, I adore ballet shows, and nothing gives me more joy than seeing those stunning tutus twirling gracefully on stage! And 1915 was no different! But it wasn’t just about grand performances, ballet classes were booming, and even social dances started embracing that beautiful tutu style!

Can you imagine? Just think about all the beautiful ladies dancing in their pink tutus, having a delightful time. sighs contentedly Just pure delighted sighs of fashion and femininity!! 🌸

So, to all my darling tutu-loving friends, let’s keep the tradition alive! Let's embrace those swirling skirts and wear pink with pride! The history of the tutu is truly captivating, a dance through time, and we are all part of this beautiful story!

This week’s #TutuTuesday is a gentle reminder - there’s no wrong way to wear a tutu. Go wild! Let your inner ballerina shine. Don’t be afraid to dance like nobody’s watching because darling, I’m watching, and I'm simply enchanted! 😉

Until next week, may your tutus always be twirling and your hearts full of dance! Don't forget to check out my website www.pink-tutu.com for more fun tips on your very own pink tutu journey!

Love, Emma
