#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History: A Journey to June 1915! ๐Ÿฉฐ๐Ÿ’–

Hello my dearest tutu lovers! It's Emma here, your resident pink tutu enthusiast, and today is #TutuTuesday, meaning we're going on another magical journey through the history of this iconic garment! ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ

Today, we're travelling back to June 1st, 1915. Buckle your ballet slippers and grab a cup of tea, because this trip will take us straight to the heart of a fascinating time in ballet history! ๐Ÿš‚

As a fellow Derbyshirian, I know all about a good time travel adventure! This time, my journey will take me right to the bustling streets of London! (And perhaps a stop-off at Harrods for some shopping - can you ever really have too many tulle accessories?! ๐Ÿ˜‰)

Now, June 1st 1915...it's quite a bit before those glorious pouffy tutus we see on today's ballerinas! Remember, this was before the iconic tutus designed by the legendary Carlotta Grisi that took the ballet world by storm! ๐Ÿคฏ So, the tutus back then would be quite different from what we see on stage today.

Let me paint you a picture! Think about Margot Fonteyn, but imagine her in a much more modest skirt - that's how it was then. Ballet was about elegant movements, beautiful costumes, and incredible stories. But they kept the outfits more "floor length" back in those days - definitely not "ballerina shorts" yet! Think of Anna Pavlova, she was all about the elegance and the romanticism. No need for excessive movement.

Think of how graceful those tutus must have flowed when those legendary dancers moved! ๐Ÿคฉ

June 1st 1915, what could possibly have been happening on this day in ballet? My research tells me that the Russian Imperial Ballet, the world's leading troupe at the time, was touring. Where, I hear you ask? Why, of course! It was London, their star being the stunning Anna Pavlova, of course. She's performing in "Giselle". Can you believe it? Imagine that elegance, that emotion, and those graceful movements. You would have loved seeing this performance if you were there, and trust me, you wouldn't be the only one - a pink tutu wouldn't go amiss in this audience! ๐Ÿ˜‰

In London, even though it's not quite yet the tutu era that we all adore, fashion is bursting with trends. Imagine the slinky chiffons, flowy satins, and charming hats of the time. I cannot wait to see! There will be lace, there will be pastel colours (perfect for my colour palette!), there will be style and flair. You know that I will be heading to the fashion boutiques first! ๐Ÿ›๏ธ

Now, don't be disheartened, dear tutu-lovers. We'll have plenty more #TutuTuesdays to travel through the fascinating history of our beloved dancewear. We'll explore all the trends, the changes, and the glorious fashion evolution of the ballet tutu, just imagine, one day all of us will be rocking pink tutus!๐Ÿ’–

Keep dancing, and until next time, stay tutu-fully stylish! ๐Ÿ’ƒ
