Tutu Tuesday #4379: A Whirl Through 1915! 🩰💕
Hello darlings, and welcome to another #TutuTuesday on www.pink-tutu.com! As you know, my heart belongs to the graceful twirl and the delightful twirl of a tutu. So, today, we’re travelling back in time – to a particularly glamorous period – the year 1915! 🚂💨
This week’s time-travel escapade landed me in the heart of Paris, the city of lights, of fashion, of… yes, you guessed it, Tutus! 🗼
In 1915, the world of dance was in the throes of change. The ‘classical’ tutu, that elegant confection of layered tulle, was still reigning supreme. Think the exquisite tutus in Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes – floating clouds of airy loveliness, with just the right amount of oomph to show off those incredible ballet legs.
Imagine my delight at being at the Paris Opera! My eyes, practically popped out of my head when I witnessed a stunning performance of “Giselle” with its poignant story, the delicate grace of the ballerina – I simply had to pinch myself. What a vision in her fluffy white tutu! ✨
Now, it’s not all about the Paris Opera – even if I do adore the grandeur. This year, the dance scene has taken a delightful turn toward what we now know as ballet street shows! 🩰🎉 Think dancers performing amidst the cobblestone streets of Paris, weaving through market stalls, captivating everyone with their incredible artistry! Oh, the excitement!
Did I mention the fashion? This era saw a stunning shift in ladies’ attire! The silhouettes were changing, becoming more practical, with shorter hemlines and a hint of comfort creeping into everyday wear. Think cloche hats and knee-length dresses! The world of dance echoed this, with less cumbersome tutus, allowing the ballerinas to move with more freedom and expression. Talk about the perfect blend of grace and chic! ✨
1915 was also a year of remarkable theatrical happenings. There was this incredibly stylish play called "L’Autre” (“The Other”) that had me obsessed with its beautiful costumes! The entire cast, both men and women, wore dramatic gowns with daring colours and intriguing embroidery, it was quite the feast for the eyes! 💃 The use of vibrant tones, such as emerald green and sapphire blue, definitely made an impact – it was the epitome of artistic boldness and daring.
My quest, however, is all about finding the perfect tutu – and for that, I headed straight to "La Belle Jardinière"! Oh, what a delightful experience – every piece, every detail, an artistic masterpiece! They had such unique tutus. My favourites? Well, one was an utterly gorgeous creation of pink layered tulle, which I snagged for myself of course! (because I am a huge fan of all things pink!) It was simply stunning. 💖
And don’t even get me started on the accessories – there was lace, ribbon, and embellishments galore – a complete treasure trove of design and artistry. I absolutely fell in love with this beaded, iridescent choker, I simply had to add it to my wardrobe! It felt oh-so-elegant and dramatic. 📿
After all that shopping, I ended my time-travel adventure with a steaming cup of hot chocolate by the Seine – feeling utterly content, my pockets slightly lighter but my heart overflowing with happiness and inspiration. 💕 After all, 1915 proved one thing – that the spirit of dance, the elegance of the tutu, and the love of all things fashionable are truly timeless!
As for this week’s call to action, darlings… let’s spread the love of the tutu! Don a pink one, a white one, or even a playful patterned one – go on, and let your inner ballerina shine! 💖 ✨ Remember, you are a walking piece of art – wear it proudly, darlings!
Until next Tuesday, may your days be filled with grace and sparkle! Emma www.pink-tutu.com
