#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History - 11th April 1916 🩰🌸

Hello my darlings! It’s Emma here, your friendly neighbourhood pink tutu enthusiast, back with another instalment of #TutuTuesday: Ballet Tutu History! Today we're going to whisk ourselves back to a time when tutus were starting to really take centre stage… (Pun absolutely intended! 😄). This week's blog post is number 4398 - can you believe we've been going for so long?

Anyway, as you know I’m always on the hunt for amazing fashion inspiration and discovering all things tutu! This week we're going to go back in time to 11th April 1916, a time when a certain Russian ballerina named Anna Pavlova was in the midst of her glorious tour around the United States. Can you imagine?! It's truly inspiring, isn’t it?

Anna Pavlova, the Queen of Ballet and her Fabulous Fashions 👑

Now, I've gotta say, Anna was a complete fashion icon. Imagine her swirling in those dreamy tutus across the stage! Her elegant movement and graceful steps absolutely captured the heart of the American audiences - what a privilege to be in the presence of such an iconic ballerina!

1916 was the year Anna Pavlova wowed the nation with her Les Sylphides performance - an utterly delightful ballet that captured the magic of the moonlit woods. I just adore the delicate choreography, the mystical atmosphere - and of course, those beautiful, flowing tutus! The perfect image of feminine elegance.

Tutus for Every Occasion 💃🏻

Think about it, darlings, tutus weren’t just for the stage in 1916! They were actually a growing fashion trend for young women of that time. I hear they even sported tutu-like designs in their daytime dresses - imaginable? A mix of dainty and practicality, oh my!

Of course, as with most things in life, there's always someone trying to reinvent and elevate the style even further. Can you believe it, even the French designers were taking inspiration from the ballets, adapting these airy fabrics and dramatic designs into gowns for lavish balls and social gatherings! They really took the term "fairytale" fashion to a whole new level!

Travelling Back to a World of Dance

Now, I bet you’re wondering, “Emma, how on earth do you even manage to get back in time?!” Well, darlings, it’s all thanks to the wonders of my secret ballet performance fund. Every show I attend, every move I execute, and every stunning tutu I wear (yes, I do love a change!) contributes to the magic of time travel!

And the best part? It takes me all over the world. I’ve even done the grand tour of Europe in the space of a week. And you know what? The train journeys are an absolute blast. Imagine the conversations with people who love dance as much as I do, or spotting a charming Parisian fashion trend as you zip through the French countryside!

Back in the Present – Let’s Spread the Tutu Love 💖

Well, my loves, that’s my #TutuTuesday for today! It's truly fascinating to see how fashion and dance intertwine - and how tutus have captured our hearts and minds for over a century.

Don't forget! I want to see all you fabulous fashionistas sporting your own pink tutus! I've been working on the cutest designs for the “Emma's Pink Tutu Line.” Keep an eye out on the www.pink-tutu.com website - we've got a surprise coming up for you all. I promise it will be utterly spectacular.
