#TutuTuesday: A Step Back in Time! ๐ฉฐ
Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-wearing time traveller, Emma, back with another #TutuTuesday adventure! Today we're whisking ourselves back to January 14th, 1919, a date packed full of intriguing fashion, cultural highlights, and a little bit of Tutu history.
(This is post number 4542 on www.pink-tutu.com - do catch up with my earlier posts if you're new!)
Oh, the journey was splendid! I caught the train from my darling Derbyshire all the way to Paris. Now, you all know how I adore a bit of Parisian style! ๐ซ๐ท A certain "je ne sais quoi", don't you think?
It was just like a scene out of one of my favourite vintage ballet films! Ladies sporting cloche hats and beautifully embroidered gowns. I must confess, my little pink tutu caused quite a stir amongst the crowd - oh, but it was the best kind of stir!
Now, let's talk about what made this particular day so special! It was a day packed with historical significance - The Treaty of Versailles was signed, formally ending the First World War. A moment of bittersweet hope and relief. And as a testament to the indomitable spirit of the human race, even amidst such turmoil, the arts continued to thrive.
Speaking of arts, I was absolutely delighted to catch a show at the Opera Garnier. The theatre, built with such beautiful grandeur, was a sight to behold! You wouldn't believe how the shimmering lights reflected off the satin and sequins of the gowns in the audience! It was absolutely divine!
Now, a peek into the ballet world of 1919... Tutus were evolving ! Gone were the days of stiff, heavy crinolines, replaced by flowing, light, tulle masterpieces that allowed for incredible fluidity and movement. Imagine being able to spin and twirl with so much grace! ๐
The Romantic era in ballet was in full bloom! It was a period where ballet storytelling truly began to flourish. The ballerinas were not just dancers; they were expressive artists, telling stories with their movements, evoking emotions, and capturing imaginations. Oh, to be a dancer in those times!
(Side note - don't forget to join me next week when I share my incredible finds at a vintage ballet shop. There were the most divine little lace-trimmed slippers and the cutest vintage tutus imaginable!)
This week, I encourage you all to don your favourite pink tutus (and a touch of sparkle if you fancy!), let your imagination soar, and remember the power of the human spirit to persevere and to celebrate the beauty of life, even amidst hardship.
See you all next Tuesday!
Much love,
Emma ๐๐ฉฐ
