#TutuTuesday: Ballet Tutu History: A Whirl Through 1919! ๐Ÿฉฐ๐ŸŒธ

Hello darling dears and welcome to Pink-Tutu.com's #TutuTuesday! This week, I've travelled all the way back to July 29th, 1919, and let me tell you, the Parisian fashion scene was a complete whirlwind of colour and elegance!

This is blog post #4570, my lovelies! You wouldn't believe the adventure I've had finding all the beautiful outfits from the Golden Era of Ballet. And just as we are getting used to our gorgeous "tutus" being on show, those dancers were already breaking the mould! It wasn't the romantic tutus of our modern day - these were a little less floaty and a lot more structured. Can you imagine? No free twirling! I guess I better thank the pioneers who dared to twirl against the flow to get to where we are today. I even spied some lovely little frilly additions like ruches, oh I can't even tell you how excited I am! I could live in the gorgeous pink one!

Before we get into the tutu bits, I had a chance to hop on the Orient Express (yes, I had the time to hop on a train between the shows...a girl's gotta get about! ) and I bumped into Anna Pavlova, an absolute queen of ballet! Now, she knows her way around a tutu. I was lucky enough to be at the Palais Garnier when Anna herself was performing The Dying Swan. I literally couldn't keep a dry eye, her swan tutu is just as exquisite as ever.

Back in my time machine, I have to mention the stunning ballet production Le Spectre de la Rose, or The Phantom of the Rose. What a show stopper! With a breathtaking performance of grace and fluidity - not a single stiff step in sight! The sheer volume of tulle on those costumes makes me want to dance the day away. (Oh how I do! ) You wouldn't believe how intricate those embellishments are. Imagine delicate fabric layered with rows of beading - it was like looking into a cloud of sparkle. You can understand why people went crazy for ballet! And imagine - they even went on to develop ballet street - a street dance form where people could learn the dances - in the street! Who wouldn't be interested? Even today, these days we call it "ballet-street"! Oh my gosh, the things that will come to be!

But this wasn't just about the ballets - I saw the Grand Prix for the first time, a prestigious motor racing competition that put motor vehicles on the map. The event was a hit across the globe - especially amongst the French elite, it's one for the history books - think fashion, glamorous people in fabulous outfits, and a fantastic sense of adventure. I have no idea if ballet was present but it probably would have been!

Back to tutus! I really wish I could have gotten to see more shows this week, but it was quite a busy trip. And, there is such a thing as having too many tulle in your day, darling! A week ago, I got into an absolutely fabulous pink tutu, it is the best find this season! A classic! You might be asking yourself how I get hold of a 1919 outfit you may ask? Well darling - my best friend owns a lovely little antique shop, and is such a great spot for me to find new treasures for my collection. Now - do you know what, it might just have to be my next #TutuTuesday find... Iโ€™ll keep it under my hat for now. But it does look very much like a pale peach colour with a black ribbon. You can say I'm a little smitten with its frills. We all know it isn't all about the pink. You need the other colours, a full rainbow, all in tutus of course!

Let me know in the comments what your favourite tutu looks like and remember - even if you've got a favourite outfit you are so pleased with, why not jazz it up with some tutu-magic? You can find some lovely bits to make the perfect tutu ensemble. You can have any colour - black, pink, lilac - let me know if you find an amazing tutu that will make you do a little pirouette. Don't be scared - a pink tutu can bring the pink sparkle to any wardrobe! And who knows, if I'm wearing it then I will be!

I'm off for another time travelling tutu trip, my loves. Let me know where you think I should head next in the comments below. If you are feeling the time travel bug - you know, you don't have to travel by a magical time machine like mine! If you want some real vintage magic try going on holiday! My advice - don't worry about matching the tutus just embrace the history and remember your adventures by getting a picture! And maybe, a tiny bit of travel and inspiration - or the next Pink-Tutu.com find - will get your brain working on a new look or even get you spinning into the world of ballet.

Until next Tuesday, darling dears, don't forget - everything is better with a touch of tulle! ๐Ÿ’–
