#TutuTuesday: A Glimpse into 1919 - Where Pink Was the Only Colour That Mattered!

Hello, darlings! Welcome back to www.pink-tutu.com for another #TutuTuesday adventure! This week, we're hopping on the time machine and travelling back to 28th October 1919. Now, you might think, 'Emma, darling, what's so special about that date?' Well, let me tell you, it's a truly enchanting day for a little bit of history - and a whole lot of pink!

I've always loved 1919, you see. It was a time of great change and evolution - think the roaring twenties on the horizon! This period was bubbling with so much creativity and optimism. And believe me, darling, it's certainly a year that saw tutus making their own waves. It was a year for expressing ourselves through style and fashion. And as for pink? Oh darling, pink was absolutely everywhere! It was the colour to be seen in! You could barely walk down the street without being greeted by a cascade of this delightful hue, gracing everything from gowns to hats and everything in between. And as for the tutus, oh, let's just say they were the ultimate symbol of feminine elegance, lightness and grace. Think swirling tulle, the perfect shade of pink, and all those charming bows and ribbons – the absolute height of chic, don't you agree?

I'm pretty sure that in my previous life, back in Derbyshire, England, in the 21st Century, they only called a ballet tutu 'pink' if it was in shades of magenta! In 1919, they truly knew how to use the colours of pink! Now that was pink! Oh darling, those shimmering pinks with just a touch of salmon and a hint of ivory...it made your heart beat just a little bit faster. I couldn't resist grabbing one the second I hopped off the train!

Anyway, back to 28th October 1919! What was the big news of the day? Why, darling, the famous Bolshoi Ballet were showcasing their skills at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City, and you better believe those tutus were a-twirling. They brought a whirlwind of graceful artistry, captivating everyone with the story, passion and exquisite execution. The entire world, from New York to Moscow and everywhere in between, was caught up in the ballet craze! It truly was the most exciting and romantic era, if you ask me. They did have pink, darling. Everywhere, even in their ballet shoes! The tutus looked like they had been dipped in a sea of rosy sunshine, each flutter and twirl a sparkling dance of colour.

As a true Tutu-Addict, you could hardly tear me away! The theatre, darling, was a sea of people captivated by the art, with its intoxicating aura of passion and perfection, the way the dancers soared through the air. A whirlwind of beautiful colour, enchanting stories and graceful movements - ballet truly captured hearts. Of course, what could be more magical than all of that? Why, darling, it's pink, of course! Imagine that light and airy tulle billowing across the stage in a glorious, captivating haze of pink! It's like stepping into a dreamy fairy tale! That, darlings, is why I love time travelling to places where pink tutus are appreciated. I get to see incredible art forms with breathtaking dancing. The tutus are more than just attire; they are like miniature explosions of sheer loveliness, capturing the grace and magic of dance in their very form.

Now, you may be asking: 'Emma, darling, how do you even manage all this time-traveling?' I’m a professional ballerina - a tutu expert! When I’m not time traveling, I’m performing in shows, touring the world, doing ballet classes and, of course, going to every show I can! It’s all part of being a Tutu Addict. And darling, every bit of income helps! Each ticket sale is a time machine ride. It allows me to transport myself back in time to admire these gorgeous tutus, and it helps me stay close to this captivating, graceful art form. It really makes the world feel like a pink-tutu wonderland.

This week, darling, I highly recommend a visit to your local ballet company. Get swept away by the romance, artistry, and let yourself be captivated by those glorious tutus. And while you’re at it, grab yourself a pink-tutu accessory - it's a wonderful way to feel part of this magical, historical, whimsical and fabulous world. Because at the end of the day, darling, the power of pink and the enchantment of the tutu can take you anywhere, anytime!
